Al B. Sure! ~ Al'l Justify Your Love

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I played this guys first album to death in the 9th grade, but he always cracked me up, thought he was so sophisticated. My cousin and I used to die laughing as we listened to the flip side of the "Night and Day" 45...it was a French version called "Nuit et Jour". We were like, "Who does this fucker think he is?!"

Make it so, Number One...

SoulAlive

His first album was excellent, but the follow-ups left alot to be desired.I remember buying his second album in 1991 (Private Times....And the Whole 9) and being really disappointed with it.It was an overlong, tedious album with only a few truly great tracks.

SoulAlive

but back to the topic lol

I don't like this song very much.I remember back in the early 90s,Al mentioned in an interview that Madonna is an artist that he wants to work with.So I'm not surprised that he re-worked one of her songs.Only problem is,his song just isn't very good.

Al is not the first US act to do songs in other languages, it's been done for decades. The Beatles recorded songs in German and so has Johnny Cash. Several Motown acts released songs in Spanish, German, French, & Italian in the 1960s. Michael Jackson released Todo Mi Amor Eres Tu on a maxi single and there was a French version too. Jeramine has a Spanish version of Let's Get Serious. There's also been acts who native language is not English, have recorded versions of their songs in English and other languages. Kraftwerk (who are German) has Spanish & English versions of some of their songs. Gloria Estefan has English & Spanish versions of some songs too.
