Boy George Lands Reality Series

Boy George is (finally) getting his own reality show – and who better to produce the docu-series than the guys behind Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Bunim/Murray Productions.

The show will chronicle The Culture Club frontman's move from London to Los Angeles, according to Deadline.

George announced the show by proclaiming: "If Marge Simpson met Dolly Parton and went dancing with Ziggy Stardust, it wouldn’t come close to what you’ll see."

And if you had any questions as to why the former pop star has suddenly decided to try his hand at television, he's got the answers: "Why now – why not? Why me – who else?”

For anyone who missed out on the '80s, Boy George had a string of hits with his band, The Culture Club – including classics like "Karma Chameleon," "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me," and "I'll Tumble 4 Ya." The British singer's androgynous persona was considered quite shocking at the time.

“Boy George is a musical and cultural icon, and it’s about time someone captured his story," said Gil Goldschein, chairman and CEO of BMP. "We are experts in producing celeb-reality docuseries, and we couldn’t be more excited with the opportunity to tell this story with the right broadcast partner."

I miss the Boy George I grew up with who was known for being a talented singer and songwriter. I hate reality shows. But I guess he has to market himself this way because he can't really sing anymore. It's sad really.

Not impressed by bitchy drama queen antics. He did that on the BBC documentary about the CC reunion. I have to wonder if that was all contrived and an audition for this.

He's always criticized reality shows so it seems a desperate hypocritical move.

Very rare that I give Reality shows any Love but I'm gonna check it out...I'm very curious to see what he wants us to know about him now that he's older and possibly wiser...

He is such an unlikable man, but the series would be fascinating to watch.

I've drastically reduced my viewing on reality shows in the past few months and have noticed that I haven't missed anything by tuning out, however, I may give this one a try.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Why give this one a try? It doesn't matter who stars in them, all reality shows are basically the same. It's just going to be his tiresome bitchy queen antics. George's problem is he has more ego and attitude than actual musical talent now. I loved him in the 80's, but he threw his talent away and became a joke.

I get a lot of people think his personality is funny, but to me he's just a mean spirited bore. Culture Club was a great band back in the day, but George's ego and need for attention ruined it. It should have been like Duran Duran and Spandau Ballet who are great even now, but George messed it all up.

Eh, I won't be watching. Like Glinda said, these shows are all scripted and basically the same anyway, and anyway, I don't really need to be reminded that one of my favourite singer/songwriters is a profoundly nasty person in real life. I didn't even watch the CC documentary, although I'm still waiting for someone to post a couple of screencaps of the actors playing the band in Spain or whatever it was! lol

Jon, Roy and Mikey should be like Kanye. He rarely if ever appears on Kim's show because he's too cool for it!

Nah, they should go on it if they want to, because then we'd get to see them and so would other people who might not realise they're not just a backing band. Plus I get the impression that Jon at least likes being on camera, and I think considering all they shit George has put them through, they should feel entitled to milk this whole thing as much as they like! lol

Yes, maybe you are right! I agree Jon does like being on camera. But the only problem George is the producer of the show and he has control over the editing. The BBC documentary in which I thought Jon. Roy and Mikey came off well, the editing was done by a director and the BBC and George wasn't in charge. If George is in charge, he might make them look bad or not let them be on it! I changed my mind. They should push George out of the way and get right up in front of that camera!
