If Chris Brown can revive his career post Rihanna-smack, WHY CAN'T ROBIN THICKE? Anyone who follows Thicke's career from the start knows that the guy is a very talented singer/songwriter/producer. I don't give a shit if his song is (allegedly) mysoginistic or if he cheated on Paula, he shouldn't stop singing and making music. Damn, Chris Brown won a grammy after the PR blunder Rihanna smack, so why can't Robin??
One advice I would give him though is, yes, stop trying to be Marvin. It already costed you millions.
Still got some love for Robin?

Give it some time. When the smoke clears he'll be back. When the Chris Brown incident happened I said (even here on the .Org) that Chris will be bigger than he is now....whether it's positive or negative, he will be huge. I'm sure the same will happen for Robin. Hell it happened for R Kelly..his fans still love him and his music. People love comebacks.

All he's gotta do is put out a great album.I think his 2008 album Something Else is his best work.

No one was checking for his album Paula. Hard to ignore the controversy that is the title of your album. Is that what you mean?

By the way, did Paula get HALF from her divorce before the Gaye ruling?

Has Chris Brown revived his career? Is fathering a lovechild and surprising your girlfriend with it growing up? People have died and sustained life-changing injuries due to his 'in da club' antics... Idk any of his songs except "Run It" and that was before he beat up Rihanna. Today I read something like he told the girlfriend that found out about his lovechild to not act like a "thot" short for "that hoe over there". Classy guy. . Robin Thicke can probably live above the garage at Mr. Seaver's house. He made his money legit like. Dudes two hits are sample-heavy nonsense (Blurred Lines and When I Get You Alone). He tried to buy some cred and ended up ruining his "career". Good thing daddy has been signing them contracts since back when they actually benefitted the artists. Diff'rent Strokes is on re-runs like every day, not sure how/where Growing Pains is syndicated but those Arnold Jackson residuals must be great.

different circumstances completely. bad analogy actually. robin has released a ton of material over the last three years. it was TIME for a break for him. the paula thing (album and divorce) ust made the hiatus more necessary and high profile.
as for chris, not a fan, but it does seem like he's rebounded. i can't name many of his songs, but it seems like he's embraced the "bad boy" side of his image and made some grimier stuff even if some of it still misogynistic (hip hop has "normalized" that ish content wise). i can say that i heard Fine China at a family party last week, on a NICE sound system. THAT song is a BEAST. I was like DAMN Chris! Dude HAS talent

There was only one way that Chris Brown could recover from the public fallout after what happened.
Thicke is in a bit of a different position because he never had a big hit before "Blurred Lines", which everybody and they mama know he ripped off from Marvin.

C'mon, dude worked on "Rump Shaker" for Wreckz back in 1992. He had a good run! He's still talented but he ain't hot like that. This kid that Chris is working with, I think his name is Nic Nac? His shit is mad fresh. |

Macy Gray came back. So did Avant. And don't forget that new track from Ginuwine. Chris Brown should be teaching hip hop dance in the suburbs or serving burgers. Robin Thicke can just live off of daddy's legacy money. No respect.

His strength is in his songwriting and producing. That is what sustained him until he hit it big with "The Evolution.." album. Dude is a true artist. As a music fan, I will never back an artist with a powerful pen into a corner and expect them not to fight their way out of it.

[Edited 4/6/15 6:51am] Chris Brown teaching hip hop classes is actually not a bad idea. His classes would be packed and he would be great at it. Ciara and Mya too. Although i see Mya teaching pole and Tap.

It could be worse. He could have changed his name to something unpronounceable.

He's a one-hit pop wonder. But he has a R&B following that should click back into step with a focused album.
