Do You Think OVERTLY SEXUAL songs-hit singles were inappropiate during the AIDS scare of the '80s surprising how many explicit songs were released during those years, from roughly 1980-81 to the death of Freddie Mercury, which certainly helped tone down lyrics (not many 92-95 explicit hit singles, if any) I'm talking about Prince, Madonna, George Michael, "gonna f*ck you silly all night long" glam-metal songs, urban sex songs, etc...
what do you think about it? discuss

No, people are responsible for their own actions, not song lyrics. Censorship of music does not equal responsible sexual behavior. The same people who engaged in risky behavior I knew back then would have done it anyway, regardless of how "safe" or "unsafe" the music might be. Censoring overtly sexual music wouldn't have worked any more than Nancy Reagan's "Just Say No" drug campaign did. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

Im one of those people taht don't believe that music, video games, tv or movies have any influence on most people's behaviour. The Most Important Thing In Life Is Sincerity....Once You Can Fake That, You Can Fake Anything. | |

I believe everyone of us is responsible for our own personal behavior. Music to me never influence my sexual behavior. I remember coming of age during the 80s and learning about AIDS and the public service announcements that followed. Prince to me was the only artist who had risqué lyrics and of course George Michael's "I Want Your Sex" was pretty controversial at the time. Sex sells especially in music. Was it inappropriate?
