ATRL: Don't Compare Beyonce With Artists Of Today
She follow trends of today musically so I don't see why

A few things:
-Boyz II Men, Backstreet Boys, Usher, and Mariah Carey did not debut in the late 90s -Funny how when comparing Gaga to Beyonce she uses "ArtPOP", an album that signaled Gaga's fall from grace instead of "Fame Monster", the popularity of which completely overshadowed Beyonce at the time and largely drowned out whatever she was doing and correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't that and BTW more commercially successful than any of Beyonce's albums individually? -JT is hardly "slaying" as this idiotic article says he is. His "comeback" outside of one song has been largely lukewarm in comparison to what many thought it would be with how he was being pushed as the next Michael Jackson with 20/20 Experience, a mediocre album. Not even 2 years later, his buzz has disappeared and his music absent. Yeah, there's your new King of Pop, ladies and gentlemen... please. Overall another day, another Beyonce stan trying to spread the gospel of their overrated, over glorified "poor man's Whitney Houston". [Edited 2/15/15 11:55am]

Those guys on ATRL are so out of touch with reality, it's not even funny. I try my best to avoid and stay away from that site. They are vicious and truly out of their minds.
A+MEN! To ALL of this. YES @ "Poor man's Whitney Houston." She is the most overrated "artist" in music history. [Edited 2/15/15 14:24pm]

Speaking of overrated, Meghan Trainor says Beyonce is the most talented artist ever:
Seriously Meg? [Edited 2/15/15 14:57pm] [Edited 2/15/15 14:58pm]

> This right here. No matter what you think of the whole 20/20 Experience (not a particularily bad experience) the whole push to make it more then it was has pretty much flopped. Until his name is brought up you tend to forget he even put anything out what was it 2 years ago?

> Not sure about this artist but I think Furtado will be back. For someone who has already had ups and downs in her short career it's too early to count her out. She's catchy with a fine pop ear.

Never had a furtaco before unless it's that thing I got from T Bell one time...
I wonder if Nelly Furtado has?

She was always more appreciated in Canada and outside the US, she's going to be fine.

Why not compare her to those of today? Hell, they're no different than she is and just because she came out in 1997 doesn't separate her from them either. If anything, it just shows how long mainstream music has been a bunch of bullshit. It was already bullshit several years before she even came out, she was no different than the other bullshit artists of that era, and since mainstream music is no different now than it was then, she's no different from these current bullshit artists either. Different decade with different recording artists, but still the same old Fisher Price shit hop bullshit. Andy is a four letter word.

can somebody tell me when beyonce actually came out? all her stans come up with different numbers of years she's been in the game. one person argued she been at it 25 years. i dont remember hearing destiny child until around 2000.whoever wrote that is not only delusional but probably young since mariah and boys 2 men didnt come out in the late 90s.

Destiny's Child's first release was on the MIB soundtrack...7/1/1997. Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

Didn't Lil O's single Can't Stop come out before this? DC sing the hook on it. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Regardless of how you feel about her music or talent, it feels like she's a bigger star today than Whitney, Madonna, and Mariah at their height.

Actually Beyonce's never sold as much as any of them. Not really even close at this point. Change it one more time..

The word 'SLAY' needs to be banished from the World Wide Web.

Commercially, I'll have to agree with the article. Comparing Beyoncé's self-titled sales to 1989 or whatnot is the same as comparing Dangerous by Michael Jackson to any album by Mariah in the early 90's. Beyoncé IS indeed old in this buisness, and where she's at right now is just the result of many years of fucking around in the studios along with Jay Z sort of getting stuck in. Anyhow you can tell that Beyoncé, even if good as a singer and performer, maintains a kind of "reputation" that makes things flow so well.. She's sourrounded by A&Rs who probably are the best in this buisness, she can have any producer she wants to work on her album, she's the richest popstar there is right now (Not more than Lady Gaga tho, but Gaga spends her money on meat dresses tho..) and that just leads to be skeptic of the praise she always gets from the press the day she performs or drops a new single... It's all behind-the-scenes garbage ass-kissing and the worst is that it's all OFF the record. Hell, if the formula of talent + charisma will lead to such massive sales and weight in the buisness, Janelle Monae or Alicia Keys would've gotten that years ago... Jay Z being her husband, the surprise album, her capability of manipulating her fanbase once with a filthy oversexualized video and then with a performance of some Gospel song that showcases the singing talent... You just can't argue with the fact that she HAS power in all sorts of media (Even Pitchfork's staff who always tend to bash the mainstream in their year-end lists seem to ass-kiss Beyoncé whatsoever). Don't compare Beyoncé with artists of today (at least with Katy or Rihanna who can linger in this filthy buisness for at least 5 more years and then vanish...). She's more powerful, more famous, more iconic... and instead of bitching about why would I or would anyone give her such props, we should respect that she managed her way through all the past years to maintain her position and not give up to the post-30 celebrity meltdown thingy... even if it had a big ammount of cocksucking and fucking around, but none is on record.

18 years into her career and her music is still mediocre. Well I think Destiny's Child music was better than Beyonce's solo stuff but anyway I was watching Stevie Wonder's tribute last night and was wondering if any artists of this generation will ever have a tribute like that. No one makes classics anymore they just make hits for the moment that sound dated within 5 years. I Can't imagine someone paying tribute to Beyonce singing "Single Ladies" or "Drunk In Love" in 2040. And yeah ATRL is nothing but a bunch of delusional teenage stans infested on it.

This is what happens when u write songs in 5 minutes and then brag about recording an entire album in 2 weeks. FOOLS multiply when WISE Men & Women are silent.

Great article on why a Beyonce backlash is brewing. I always liked Beyonce, but she is becoming completely overrated. It's like she is paying media outlets to hype her up.

That doesn't matter. They sold because of many pop hits and lack of internet piracy. I don't think they ever had so much star power as Beyonce.
