Sandra St. Victor, Rise.

This song surely went under the radar back in the day; would have been a hit in my world:

Very Prince like.

All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!

Liked the music a lot, chorus coulda been stronger - wasn't she the lady on Family Stand's "Ghetto Heaven"? That was a FANTASTIC track!

What is she up to these days? Last time I heard from her was when Prince used some of her lyrics for some of the songs on Emancipation, and I read that they had a big argument at some point. If I recall correctly, she wrote Soul Sanctuary and one or two other songs on Emancipation.

I still listen to Ghetto Heaven quite often.

Great song.

This one above is nice, too.

.

As to my knowledge, her latest longplayer, called OYA'S DAUGHTER, produced by cult DJ/remixer Mark De Clive-Lowe, was released in Sept. 2013. The remix-ep ETERNALLY, followed sometime in 2014.

.

You can find her on bandcamp as well, where she offers a tasty remix of GHETTO HEAVEN plus a couple of other tracks.

.

Personally, I believe she is an amazing singer. Too bad that she never got the recognition she truly deserves.

"Mack Diva Saves the World" was a fantastic album! Damn shame Warner Brothers kicked her to the curb. I remember reading an interview a year or so after the album was released. She said she was really excited about the album and it seemed like the label was really going to support it. Then, at the last minute, they pulled the rug out from under her and told her they decided they were going to put their promotional dollars behind Eric Benet instead. She was devastated. She likened the experience to giving birth to a baby and someone coming along to toss it out the window.
