Stuart is more RAW.. Loose.. he does his thing .. & its GOOD!

I'd personally go with Pino because im sure he could do what Zender does if he were instructed to

'LET LOOSE'..

But,

Im not so sure that Zender could discipline himself enough to do what Pino does for artist ranging from Tears for Fears and David Gilmour to D'angelo.

Pino all the way. Stuart is great and all, and Jamiroquai has never been the same without him, but he can't touch Pino. But I'd love to see that Stuart and D collabo happening!

Stuart was affiliated with D's label/management- Cheeba Sound/Virgin.

*Same label Nikka Costa was on.

Love Is So Cold, was originally slated for Voodoo album. As we all know, it eventually ended up on Don-E's record with D'Angelo's keys intact. I highly suspect that there's a recording with D'Angelo's vocal tracks as Don E's version is basically a note for note copy of D's trademark singing style and vocal arrangements.

There's an old article that details what went wrong with Stu's Azure project, which also mentioned D's involvement, and....Tyrese.

I heard it!

I got to hear the AZUR album. Well, the 45 mins/10 tracks that were completed.

IT ROCKED!

Lots of urban jungle style. D'Angelo and so forth if your familiar with the US style of the genre. Major stuff that would be an easy crossover hit in America. Stu is all over the place just flexing. No show off "I am your god" stuff like some would do. Just enough to prove he's good and leave more than enough room for everyone else to also shine.

Those who remember StuartZender.com will probably recall a small section dedicated to "AZUR". Well, 'What is "AZUR"?' you ask. AZUR (pronounced 'Az U R') was a band formed by Stuart Zender (ex-Jamiroquai bassist) and his friend Donny. The project was to show off the men's writing skills and Stu's own producing talents on the Virgin Records label. Few details at the time had surfaced. Gathering from various publications, the group was to feature a horn section from Cuba, Pino Palladino, and D'Angelo. A single was planned (major worldwide release) for Spring 2000.

And then.. nothing.

The news stopped and after awhile everyone accepted that something must have gone wrong to sour the deal. Stuart never talked about what happened in publication so most of the details are sketchy. Apparently, Virgin was all for the idea of the AZUR album. They had fan popular (and well respected in the industry) bassist Stuart Zender, a partner for him (Donny), and one of their own artists (D'Angelo) collaberating on the project. Virgin had major plans for a US release of the album, as well as, the rest of the world. Stu was thrilled to put it mildly. The album quickly started working out in weeks what takes most groups months.

I LOVE Love is so cold and yeah, that track has D written all over it. Don said that D laid down the lyrics after a gig in London, but the way Don told it, it seemed like it happened during the Brown Sugar tour when D was at Jazz Cafe. I could be wrong.

Stuart upset over Tyrese-they are too different artists and there is room for both. Where can I hear the Azur Stuart tracks?
