TLC Needs Fans' Help To Fund Final Album

Lord, when it gets to that point, isn't it just time to hang it up? I'm sorry, I know that they still have fans, but like them, they're fans have gotten older and probably aren't the concert goers, or music fanatics they used to be. I think it's so sad, when entertainers have had their time in the sun, and try to restart their careers again, trying to stay relevent, when their moment has passed. Most don't know when to let it go.

I thought LA Reid had signed them to some type of new record deal.A year or so ago, that's what I had heard...shortly after their TV movie was aired.

Honestly, I'm surprise Prince NEVER use Kickstarter yet!

It's like Jesse Johnson stated when he released VP a few years back music artists never have to retire unlike professional athletes. Look at acts like Maze, the O'Jays, the Isley Brothers, the Temptations, the Whispers, etc still going however; it is a little bizarre that TLC is asking their fans to fund their final album so it's already a given that they are hanging it up. Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

This has got to be a joke. If I were gonna help fund anyones album it wouldn't be there's. I'd go with some unsigned YouTube artist who actually can actually sing.

Remember when that TLC/Pebbles biopic that concided with the 20 greatest hits release? I am pretty sure that is all that deal amounted to. Throughout 20's promotion, TLC promised new music because 20 included a new song, but I don't think LA Reid was necessarily putting out any forthcoming album.

Prince made his own "kickstarters"! People don't realize they fund his music when they overpaid for lotusflow3r websites, etc..

I was a huge TLC fan. But without LeftEye they're just not the same to me. I feel the well crafted Ne-yo produced single "Meant To Be" should have been the goodbye single. Too bad radio wouldn't pick it up to become a hit. It is a brilliant song. will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P.

Oh,I see. | |

LOL. That's funny. I was always glad to have never bought into the Lotus/MPLS site. I really thought he had a chance to pick up where he left off with NPGMC with that.

I love how people in this forum in ONE breath talk and preach about INDIE INDIE INDIE screw the labels etc....then when someone is doing something INDIE or has to because of costs and the climate of music now, all i hear is HANG IT UP GIVE IT UP HAS BEEN. Decide what you want and stop being a 100% Hypocrite. Artists that have done this so far..
Van Hunt Teedra Moses F Deluxe (The Family) Richard Julian (Member of Norah Jones Band) The Jayhawks
And in the near future Ameriie Mya
and many others. All this is doing is getting the sale NOW, this is smart, they want the $$ now and you get the cd or more depending on what you donate$ why is this not a good idea? Why are YALL still so hung up on charts and what gets played on the radio, stop living in the 90's those days when that shit mattered are fucking over. I totally agree. Kickstarter/ Pledgemusic etc is the best alternative we have to bypass those terrible, evil record labels that everyone seems to hate so much.

Also its a sale, and if they get you to pay now, then it also cuts out the illegal downloads, which that and the labels, and outside things like iTunes, artists really don't make alot unless there is nothing in the middle at all. $15 is not bad for a digital download and you know what you are getting up front. Count me in, i would need a had copy also Nick Ashford was someone I greatly admired, had the honor of knowing, and was the real-life inspiration for Cowboy Curtis' hair. RIP Nick. - Pee Wee Herman

I heard on Wendy Williams they have already over $60,000 in donations! If it breaks when it bends, U better not put it in!

TLC doesn't seem to promise a copy of the album. So there's still something a little far-fetched about this fan-artist model.

$15 for the download or $100 for autographed vinyl. They do not seem to be doing a CD pressing, which is not that unusual these days.
$109K raised so far. Good for them.

. so their moment is gone, according to who? you? they should hang it up because you say so? . they surpassed their goal in just a couple days, sounds like plenty of people still think they are relevant. . artists going the route of crowd funding means complete freedom, to make an album the way they want with no label interference. it doesnt mean they should quit making music.

Which is like...a penny for Katy Perry.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Which is probably why they're stayin' where they are...the bottom.

Exactly. For these people, music is their LIFE.How can they just "hang it up" and walk away from it? What should they do....go work at a supermarket?! Being a musical artist is a lifetime commitment.
