Eddie going back to stand-up could potentially do some inspiring things for him. At this point, its well-known he stars in rather low-quality movies just for a paycheck, and he hasn't done an undisputed classic since...I'll say "The Nutty Professor". So clearly, the guy has been on auto pilot for some time, and his laziness and absurd choices in films speaks volumes. But to see him go back out there with just a microphone and himself on a stage, that could give the guy the kick in the ass all of his fans have been waiting for. It would give Eddie a reason to actually sit down, and use that brilliant mind of his to come up with some new stand-up material that quite frankly is well overdue. We all wanna see it, and we all know he has it in him. He just has to find it, or come across a shady promoter with enough money to force him to find it lol. Whatever the case, it could be huge! Good Lawd. Please stop Eddie Murphy, think of the children! Music slash singing was never Eddie's strength. Jamie Foxx on the other hand has a great voice, but his stand up was never as good as Eddie's. I guess there is a trade off. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

A coople years ago, Keenen Ivory Wayans said he's ready. It's just a matter of him doing it.
Hell if his old buddies Keenen, Arsenio Hall and Robert Townsend can get back up on stage, I don't see why Eddie can't. PRINCE: Always and Forever

Love Eddie..He has a decent singing voice, but if that were his path in life it would have happened first and not the Acting...I am not saying he should stop singing, writing, recording but the average American will not take him seriously as a "serious singer", I'm sorry..He turns to music when he's not getting good scripts (not that that's a bad thing)....I want to see him Direct & Produce more and show the world he has a lot to offer to the industry that made him King...

I don't think he wants to be back at that place where, if the standup thing explodes, he's "the man" again, bringing on impossible expectations and unwanted attention. He's been the king of the hill before. It probably left him very jaded about the industry and the current stand-up scene.

Thats a very good point, but I don't think its ever a bad thing for a creatively stagnant talent such as Eddie to go back to his roots, and find out again why he pursued and loved it in the first place, if only to reignite his love for his craft. I personally dont think hes going to set the stand-up world on fire again like before, but it couldnt hurt for him to at least give it the ol' college try again. Eddie Murphy on reggae, career flops and Michael Jackson
Q: Are you aware that your fictitious band from “Coming to America,” Sexual Chocolate, has an almost Spinal Tap-like cult status in the music world? You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton
