Becuz, "Stay with Me" became a HUGE Pop/R&B hit single that gained traction each and every month...Steve Harvey played it to 7-million Radio listeners daily....People were buying the single...I had no idea Sam was a White Guy...Music Critics were declaring Sam would be the GRAMMY King months before the ceremony...Tom Petty had to step in escpecially when we're talking about his own "Legacy" that he wants to leave behind to his Family....Here's the interesting part....Even if Tom & Sam BATTLED it out before ANY of the award ceremonies I strongly believe Sam would have survived the Storm...Today, a 22yr old White Gay Male is the "under-dog" and the Public would have been on his side to a degree...
