Interview: Richard Carpenter Richard Carpenter speaking a year ago this month on the 45th anniversary of he and his sister signing to A&M Records.
Needless to say Mr. Carpenter was always a recording room geek and its interesting to hear him speak who the "Carpenter Sound" was created. One of the cool things, at the end of the interview you hear Karen's crystal clear voice.... minus all the dubbed / multi-layered arrangements. I want this version!

Love me The Carpenters! I have a few masters to their songs, you can isolate just about any of Richards arrangements or Karens vocals and it's always magical. [Edited 1/25/15 23:53pm] Always cry 4 love, never cry 4 pain. |
