*Fresh off of the release of his highly anticipated new album “Black Messiah,” D’Angelo made good with paying off a huge tax debt that amounted to more than $160,000.
According to theJasmineBrand.com, the 40-year-old vocalist (born Michael Archer) eliminated several tax liens filed against him by the IRS by paying the agency more than $162,000. Court documents filed on Dec. 12, reveal the IRS filed a federal tax lien release stating D’Angelo paid $32,348.70 for unpaid taxes for the years 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007.
Adding to that is a $130,137.09 lien the singer paid earlier this year over money owed for the year 2002.
The payoff of both liens resulted in the federal government reportedly releasing the liens while stating that D’Angelo had paid them in full and they will no longer be a thorn in his side by coming after his property and assets to collect on the $162,485.79 he owed them.
