New Mavis Staples Documentary!!! Link: http://insidemovies.ew.co...iler-sxsw/
For gospel and R&B singer Mavis Staples, her music was more than just her profession. It became a large part of the performer’s contribution to the American civil rights movement of the 1960s.
The new documentary Mavis! charts Staples’ career and her influence on both music and civil rights. Staples has performed on her own and as part of her family band the Staple Singers, who first hit the charts in 1956 with “Uncloudy Day.” The documentary will chart her career from its beginnings to the recording of her 2013 album One True Vine.
