Hear ye, hear ye. The mighty D’Angelo has announced that he’ll be taking his funk revue to the stage once more this winter on The Second Coming tour. Many D’lievers have likely found themselves in a perpetual state of Voodoo withdrawal, but your prayers seemed to have been answered good folks, as r&b’s savior will be hitting the road this winter with a heavy line-up in The Vanguard, including phenom drummer John Blackwell, bass gawd Pino Palladino, six-string maven Jesse Johnson and a slew of other well oiled funk-machines. While there’s still no word on when we’ll get the mythical, nearly 15-years-in-the-making Voodoo follow-up, you can at least rest assured that you’ll be able to see the equally electric and organic stage-show that is D’s calling card sooner than you would have once imagined. The tour jumps off in Zurich on February 11th and will run through the beginning of March, finishing the European sprint in Brussels on March 7th. Peep the dates below and grab a stub (or if you’re in the US, a plane ticket) stat. Keep it locked, as the spring-time is looking ripe for a stateside showing and even if that doesn’t turn out, we’ll always have that spooky night at Afro-Punk.
