New Steve Arrington Album! I'm surprised this hasn't been discussed here yet (to my knowledge).
He dropped an album called Way Out, which is said to be some material from the 80s that his label thought was too "out there" at the time. I only just downloaded it, so I can't give a proper review yet. It sounds pretty funky and up beat so far. Anyone else heard it yet? [Edited 11/27/14 11:47am]

This is just a reissue of his first 2 CDs. FOOLS multiply when WISE Men & Women are silent.

"Way Out (80-84)" a retrospective encompassing all of Arrington’s classics—his first solo single, the Slave backed “Summetime Lovin’” / ”Special Effects from Mars,” much sampled hits like “Way Out" and “Weak at the Knees” from his early solo albums (just check the credits on tracks by A Tribe Called Quest, Jay-Z, Mariah Carey, Pitbull, etc), unreleased songs deemed too progressive by Atlantic Records at the time and five previously unfinished tracks featuring the classic Hall of Fame line up with brand new vocals and finishing touches from his current band. Nick Ashford was someone I greatly admired, had the honor of knowing, and was the real-life inspiration for Cowboy Curtis' hair. RIP Nick. - Pee Wee Herman

Mr. Arrington is a perfect example of R&B funk excellence at composition and execution. Excellent job at making positive, danceable R&B/funk that innovated at the edge of the evolving styles of modern R&B music. The list of elite R&B/funk composer-performers is relatively short. He deserves to be on it
It would help broaden his audience, maybe, if he outsourced the lead vocals. I think this was the case for another Hall of Fame R&B composer and performer, George Duke.

I love Steve Arrington's vocals...he made "Slave" come alive... "A united state of mind will never be divided
The real definition of unity is 1 People can slam their door, disagree and fight it But how U gonna love the Father but not love the Son? United States of Division"
