I think Dave is very diplomatic, understanding and complimentary in this interview. (He´s also very diplomatic and honest when he talks about Tyler Perry in the same interview). I love the analogy that Dave uses here, and while his mention of D´Angelo´s answerphone message does sound a bit funny, one can also tell that Dave totally understands D´Angelo´s situation and can probably relate to it. Dave comes across as a very deep thinker and generally nice person in this interview. Very enjoyable read. He seems like the person I´d like to hang around and chat with. Cool dude. yeah, It seems like Dave does understand D'angelo. We can recall Dave disappeared a few years ago walking away from a lucrative deal. Sometimes things are not as they appear and Dave was smart enough to see the fine print. Maybe D'angelo read the fine print as well and was not or is not willing to sell his soul for a dollar. Im sure the album will smoking hot.

Slightly off topic but Dave also sheds some new light on Lauryn Hill´s situation. Very good interview. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Great interview. He says that Lauryn Hill can't perform some of her own catalog because of some legal situation she's in.. is that true? Change it one more time..

I can't recall any article or "official" statement regarding Lauryn & her music, but I do suspect it has to do with royalties/revenues from shows and her radical reinvention as the "Ms. Lauryn Hill" show, a touring artist. Almost any recorded piece of music she has made since "Miseducation" has been a sour reminder of her dissatisfaction with how her talent is portrayed. The songs in the live show sound nothing like the commerical releases. Its sort of brilliant/punk but I'm team L-Boogie all day since Vocab.
