This sucks. It's not even dope. You should convince your band to do better music, this type of music is cheap and just like the stuff I used to hear when I used to turn on the radio.

If I were you, I'd ditch the band, and go to a bizzare place, all alone, and write good material, create good music, and release it here on the org exclusively.

You understand that we're a pop group who work with major labels and we make electronic pop music aimed at the 13-30 age group? I've been signed to majors since I was a teen, and toured the entire world multiple times, and you want me to leave my band and post my music on a Prince website..... riiiiiiiiiiight.

It's supposed to sound like what's on the radio. So I take that as a ciompliment. Like an Indian BEP or Maroon 5 is probably the closest comparison. If you don't like what's on the radio, then we aren't the band for you. But thanks for your feedback regardless.

Okay, I'm sorry... I knew you'd get me wrong, but all I meant was you just have to expand your horizon musically since you're a Prince fan and all... That's if you were looking for respect and appreciation among other bands. If your band is just something you do for fun, then have fun, bro!

It's not something I do for fun. It's my career. And, we spent a good few years making underground, experimental dance music, fusion electro-bhangra, and stuff like that, that garnered us a great deal of critical acclaim. Stuff you might dig, like this (our most critically acclaimed song, been in 3 movies and an EA Sport FIFA World Cup video game)

So, yeah, we're going in a more pop direction now. It's a harder challenge, actually.

But we do lots of different things. We've actually recorded an acoustic version of this song with just acoustic guitar and piano, a lot slower and more chilled out. I think you might actually lke that version. That's coming out next month. There's also stuff that isn't as pop as this, on the new album. Not everything is for everyone, so it's OK if this track isn't you. Chances are there's at least one or two things on the album that you would like.

I don't care about respect from other bands, though. I just care that our fans like it, and so far, it seems like most of them do.

Congratulations! I like it a lot. The singers are both very cute, the beat is catchy, and it would (or should) appeal to the masses because of the languages/message/look. The band kinda reminds me of Deee-Lite or Black-Eyed Peas because it is composed of diverse people. There's really something for everyone! Hey there's even some rapping! Did I mention the guy and gal are really cute? H-O-T!!! Don't mind the neyseyers... keep doing what you're doing and do it for yourself!

Lol. I'm not the stan you think I am, I may show enthuiasm when it comes to his releases and live shows, and I think he's talented. But the music he makes compared to the music I listen to is very dull and uninspiring. Just to make you know; In mainstream terms, I dig hella lot of Bruno, but generally, my iPod is full of acts that you'll never know they even existed... It's just like that.

P.S. This doesn't sound like anything Bruno Mars has done, logically.

You want an honest opinion, right? OK.

THE GOOD:

- I really like that blond lady´s voice. She´s not THAT great but she´s definitely the highlight of this dance song, which, by the way, is far from being "dope shit" or "amazing". But it is okay for what it is, and maybe even good in that kind of genre. It´s mainstream dance pop that mainstream drunk people in big clubs love to dance to....when they´re drunk.

So, it succeeds, it is what it is, and I think mainstream dance pop listeners would love this if this was fed to them on a regular basis (i.e. in mainstream clubs or via mainstream radio stations).

- The little duet part around the 1.20 minutes mark between the blond woman and the bearded guy is pretty good for what it is. That part should´ve been a tad longer.

- The production is very tight and professional, the sound mix sounds very well done, you and your band sure know how to do a good final mix. I have friends who are professional musicians and I honestly think this is a pretty good sound mix.

THE BAD:

- I´m not really into this kind of music. Matter of fact, I hate it! I dig some deep house, vocal house, some 1980-1990s dancehall reggae, but this is definitely NOT my cup of tea and it reminds me a bit of the song Art Official Cage....not really, but remotely....you know...dance pop, eurodance, whatever people call this kind of music. It makes me aggressive, I can´t even listen to it. I can´t listen to Art Official Cage, I can´t stand the Black Eyed Peas, and I can´t stand this song´s stomping, generic sounding beat and the Punjabi (?) or Hindi lyrics (? It sounds like Punjabi to me). Nothing against you or your band or Punjabi in general but this song, much like that big hit ten years ago (can´t even remember the name but it´s still being played at parties to this day) are music that make me turn down the volume or leave the party or club real fast if they keep playing that kind of music. Don´t get me wrong, there´s some Indian inspired dance pop out there that I do like and find listenable, like Alo Wala´s City Boy. But this kind of song is not the kind of song that does to me what Alo Wala´s song does to me. But hey, whatever floats your band´s boat. I bet you have your fans who do like this kind of music.

- The flying horse with the light bulbs is super kitschy and absolutely not my thing, but hey, we do have different tastes.

THE UGLY:

- Dudes pretending to play instruments that are not even audible in the song. What´s with that guy "playing guitar" ? Did you have a "Screams of Passion" moment where Prince just handed Eric Leeds a bass guitar so he could pretend to play bass guitar in the video? What´s with your weird moves on the synth? You guys need to work on that...but like I said, I´m not really into this genre and you guys seem to be pretty young, so maybe that´s part of that genre. I find it super corny and cringeworthy. Takes away from the good parts of the song and video.

-The rap part. neutral eek mad whofarted disbelief confuse fishslap Ok, I get it....even groups who started as almost good rappers, for example the Black Eyed Peas, changed their style when they saw that selling out and changing your style and genre brings in the big bucks but hey, this kind of rapping really sucks, especially coming from a guy like you who still mentions his Tupac documentary for the BBC at every given opportunity. Now don´t get me wrong, I think it´s cool that you did that (the documentary), and you surely know a thing or two about rap, especially Westcoast rap and Tupac but ....that makes it even more shocking. I mean, how can you know so much about real rappers and constantly mention folks in the music biz that you met here and there and still suck so bad at rapping? I get it that this is not really about real rap and HipHop as such and more about dance pop music but doesn´t it feel weird to you? This reminds of the mighty Hijack from Brixton who used to be THE SHIT in the late 80s and early 90s, and who even signed a deal with Ice-T who heard them on the radio while he was in London, and then the mighty MC Kamanchi Sly and Undercover sold out big time when they went for the fast money and were part of that stupid dance pop track they released when their Hijack album bombed due to lack of promotion by Warner Bros. ( because by that time Ice-T and WB had to go separate ways but I digress). Hijack´s sellout move, and the stupid dance pop songs they did, especially those where they butchered their classic tunes and turned them into dance pop, seriously tarnished the legacy of that incredible group and even led to their breakup because DJ Supreme wasn´t having it and never wanted to be part of that process.....but again, I digress and this is about your band and not Hijack but for some reason this clip reminded me of their dark phase of sellout dance pop music...and of the Black Eyed Peas. But obviously there is a huge market for this, so go for it and get yours.

What´s with the pink balls like some IKEA playground for kids? That pink car with the light bulbs? Were you guys high? But again, don´t take this personally, I´m just stating my opinion and have a hard time believing that you really think that this is "some dope shit" and "amazing".

The "dance moves", and I´m using the word "dance moves" generously here. I mean, I may not be the greatest dancer, and I don´t do dance pop music videos, but hey, you got to step your dance game up. timeout shake hmmm

-Not really video or song related but if other orgers posted their videos or songs in this forum their threads would end up in the org artists community forum with the swiftness. This is what, your second or third video? Not that I mind, feel free to post more but as a mod, don´t you think this is a bit unfair? If you want to post your music and videos here, fine, but then you (and I mean the org moderators in general) should allow other folks to post their songs here, too. I get it that you and your band are more or less established artists but still, it is unfair. Like I said, I don´t really mind but you posted your own music here and used the org as vehicle or platform for your music, and on top of that you posted a link to a Prince cover version of your band (that U Know cover) and most other links to Prince covers or any videos that have remotely to do with Prince get deleted because the org does not want to get into trouble with Prince´s camp. So why is it okay for you to post a video of you covering a Prince song? As a mod, you should know better.

-

Just my two cents.

@KoolEaze

We didn't direct the video. We're not "blown away" by the final edit either, but we respected the creative decision of the director. He had an idea, and we ran with it, and you know, we would have done the edit differently. But this is aimed directly at Bollywood, and it's their market, we shot it near Delhi and they know what works in that market better than we do.

Glad you like the mix, and the female vocals (which I wrote a lot of)

Sorry it's not your type of music. We shot a video for an unplugged/acoustic version today. Maybe you would like that version better. I understand than dance-pop is not everybody's cup of tea.

We are all musicians - the guy playing the guitar is our producer and guitarist, and he's one of the best guitarists you will ever hear. I'm admittedly not a fantastic synth player, but I do play. But yes - we were miming those in the video, because the director wanted shots that "look like what you guys look like playing live". It's not uncommon in the pop genre. Sure, it's a little bit cheesy - it's aimed at Bollywood, and I daresay most Bollywood videos have a bit of that. We've done lots of underground niche stuff in the past that's been the polar opposite, we like to do different things.

As far as rap, if you want me to spit 100 hardcore bars like Rakim or Nas or Kool G Rap, I can do that all day. All damn day. I did that for years. I've been rapping since I was 10 and I'm in my mid 20's now. I did all kinds of street mixtapes for years when I was a teenagers where it was just pure lyrical bars. But that's not what this band is about. We make pop music, and I enjoy it, and it's fun. So I spit shorter verses, and yeah, it's a lot more like Drake or Black Eyed Peas or Pitbull, that's what works with this type of music.

Anyway, thanks for your feedback.

I think you´re taking this way too personally. You asked for an opinion and you got one, no need to explain things now. I didn´t criticize your synth playing skills or your friend´s skills as a guitar player, I merely responded to your thread and your question, and yes, dance pop is not everybody´s cup of tea, like I said in my post. If you really think that you can "spit 100 hardcore bars like Rakim or Nas or Kool G Rap" ...."all damn day"....then more power to you but I don´t know about that because I didn´t get to hear that, nor am I familiar with your street mixtapes. Because I often have a problem with real MCs doing dance pop to make money, hence my example with Hijack from London or The Black Eyed Peas.

-

We are talking about this ONE specific song and video here, and wrote my detailed opinion in a balanced way, and listened to it several times without just focusing on the negative, whereas you seem to focus on my constructive criticism.

I understand that this kind of music generates more money, and if that´s the case, I genuinely wish you lots of success and money, and I really mean it because if that´s the case, then that´s really good for you and your band and your family, especially in this day and age of the slow death of the music industry and bands, but if you come to a forum of music afficionados and post your own song and ask for an opinion, I won´t lie to you.

I don´t like to mention or brag about my connections in the music biz but just like you I do have many friends in the biz who are making a living with HipHop music, and just like you I have met lots of wellknown musicians and famous rappers over the years, and the culture as such is just as dear to them and me as it is to you, and I´m just being honest. And if my friends make me listen to a new song and ask for an opinion, I always give them an honest answer or only "share" their songs on FB if I like them, I´m just direct and honest if someone asks me for an opinion.

I´ve gotten into heated debates and arguments with some wellknown and established rappers when I thought their shows sucked, so it´s really nothing personal. The only thing personal about it is that it is my personal opinion.

I like this song a lot--especially where it builds momentum at the end. I love the mix of two languages also; the main thing I don't like is the autotune part--or whatever vocal distortion is going on. But where the voices are strong and clear, I dig it, including your rap. Makes me wanna dance at the end so thumbs up!
