Nicki Minaj Accused of Evoking Nazism With New Video

Nicki Minaj has come under fire for using Nazi-inspired aesthetics in her new lyric video for "Only". What do you think?

disbelief I tried to look at the "video" but the lyrics were soooooo ridiculous I couldn't help myself to think of how can she continue to put out this garbage! Nicki needs to have a seat somewhere and have a real lyricist write her rhymes.....oh wait "the bars she spits". Since this chic has come out she has talked about absolutely NOTHING but titties, ass, fucking, riding, haters, & money. The N-word is thrown around sooo much between all of them I would love to see their reaction if someone called them one to their faces.

Nicki could have totally took her instant gimmick and delivery a totally differant way because in the beginning she had a slew of young girls/boys falling for the "Barbie" like character. I mean she looked like a real life BRATZ doll which was hot when she came out. She took that image and rolled it straight to the gutter. She literally repeats the same thing over and over me, me , me and how great I am. When she guest raps she even throws the N word in occasionally and they keep it. If I wanted her to be on my song, I would tell her you cannot cheapen the song by spewing YOUR brand...ugh.

Fly and Your Love is the only two songs I can tolerate from this woman and Your Love doesn't even escape the N-word. I would like to challenge her to spit a lyric written by Nas, KRS or Rakim I believe she could do it and we would see a WHOLE new Nicki actually saying something worth listening to. She has her unique voice and quirkiness with the cadence in her voice, it's a shame she doesn't have a clue how to showcase it.

As far as the video imagery....the coloring and logo was a no no....they should know better, but I bet they thought they were pushing some sort of envelope. Whatever backlash she gets from this she deserves and maybe she will look back at just how filthy her out put has been to date.

I highly doubt that Nicki has any clue what Nazism even means.

Following her career is like watching a highly competitive limbo dancer in action. Every time you think she can't lower the bar any further, dammit, she surprises you.

The only thing that pisses me off more than having watched this crap is to think about all the young impressionable teenagers that'll listen to this and think its ok to immitate such trashiness, shallowness and effed up attitudes.

Change it one more time..

She probably doesn't come up with most of her concepts. Every time someone has something ignorant or dumb they create in the pop world. It's either for their ''art'' or they blame someone else.

Do y'all recall when Die young by Kesha was out? and she claimed for years she wrote all her songs. Then when she got backlash after the Sandy Hook tragedy. She said that she didn't write it shrug and didn't want it on the album.

Now nicki blamed other people for her ''art'' mistakes lol

That's exactly what I was thinking. Her handlers can tell her to do just about anything because they know how dumb she is.

These days they proudly embrace, showcase and encourage ignorance to the exclusion of everything else.

CORRECTION: Nazi-inspired AND police state inspired aesthetics! disbelief

I thought some Jewish Americans within the entertainment industry were against THAT kind of racially insensitive bullshit.

In fairness, concerning her disfunctional relationship with her producer/ex-handler/ex-lover Dr. Luke, Kesha was F***ing For Tracks. nod

I really believe she knew this video would be controversial. People will do anything to be noticed. Does she really feel comfortable saying she does not come up with the concept of this video? She is so image driven but is saying she did't come up with concept. So someone comes up with a concept and you don't ask questions about the images that is representing your music. Also what is the song about really about?

yeahthat And yeah, she knew what backlash this would create, this is what she wants, to get folks talking. Isn't this like the 10th time she's put out some insincere apology about what she claimed she didn't "intend" to do with her trash art? What is this, some kind of trend these days? disbelief

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

evoking nazism is not the problem, after all, Spielberg has shown hundreds of swastikas in some of his movies

the problem, the real debate, should be if a big-titted empty head like Nicki Minaj is the most sensible/reliable person to evoke nazism...

the answer is no, of course, it's like Miley Cyrus pretending to have a serious debate about sexuality...

Airheaded Nicki probably thinks Joseph Goebbles is a west coast plastic surgeon and the Third Reich is one of his specialized cosmetic procedures.

But at least Steven Spielberg made damn sure that the viewers knew that the Nazis were THE villains, NOT heroes, in his films. At least Spielberg made sure that the viewers knew that Nazism is an evil concept.

I don't get that kind of a message from Nicki Minaj at all. What I get from her video is that she thinks that a Nazi-inspired police state is cool.

yeah

it seems yet another mistake, anaconda and then this...another misplaced attempt at relevance by playing with a risky subject...

btw I've always found nazi style as cold, repetitive and square, nothing cool or beautiful about it, so I don't get what the fuck was her point... Nicki oh my silly Nicki confused , I'd still eat your ass/tits though biggrin

I don't get the impression Nicki Minaj is open-mouth dumb. My guess would be that she saw it, knew what it meant, and decided it was edgy and cool. And the filmmakers Jewish - what are people gonna accuse of being blaack and Jewish nazis?

People steal third reich imagery all the time. The setup of the medal presentation at the conclusion of Star Wars is straight out of Trumph of the Will. It's te most generic imagery available when you want to show total authority.

But it doesn't seem like an especially thoughtful use of the imagery either. Probably intended to shock, outrage and get people talking about it. Here we are now.

I kind of like her, I wish she would do something I could get behind with this new record.
