Bow Wow Kills 106 and Park! BET Cancels ‘106 & Park’After 14 years on the air, BET’s music countdown show “106 & Park” is going dark.
Bow Wow and Keshia Chanté will host the final daily on-air show on December 19, it was announced today. There are still plans to produce “106 & Park” specials throughout the year, including the annual New Year’s Eve show, “106 & Party,” along with live event experiences at the BET Awards and BET Experience. The long-running show launched in 2000 with hosts Free and AJ and in 2006 welcomed Terrence J and Rocsi Diaz. It featured some of the biggest stars in music, movies, television, and sports including Beyoncé, Madonna, Tom Cruise, and even First Lady Michelle Obama. “We have pride in being involved with the show that has welcomed almost every movie star, music superstar, and fresh-faced talent you can name,” said Stephen Hill, BET’s President of Music Programming and Specials. “We’ve all laughed with and been entertained by the young men and women hosts that have charmed us at 6 p.m. (and more recently 5 p.m.) each weekday.” But it’s not the end of the road. In 2015, BET plans to take the show digital via BET.com and its social media platforms. “We’d like to humbly thank the ‘livest audience,’ both in studio and at home, who fueled this landmark TV show from the very beginning,” said Hill. “Meet you in the digital domain.”

I hate to say this man. But i think it's for the best they stop. I used to love 106 & park when i was young. In the early 00's it was everything. I would rush home to see R. Kelly, Outkast, J Dilla, Usher, Ginuwine, D'angelo, Eyrkah Badu, Common, Kanye West etc. But the hosts seemed to stop caring about the artists. And were just going with the flow after awhile. Bring back Chris Thomas and his riveting interviews with the likes of L'Trimm and Oaktown's 3.5.7.! "That's when stars collide. When there's space for what u want, and ur heart is open wide."

Lol Chris Thomas, he was the first host. He was a little before my time, though I remember his stand up from Def Comedy Jam and Comic View. I was the Joe Claire and Big Tigger era. PRINCE: Always and Forever

This decision was long overdue. They should've pulled the plug a little after the Tigger/Julissa (with her fine ass) era. The caliber of guests dropped horribly and there was nothing worth watching once that happened. Rap City folded for that very reason. 106 should've followed suit at the same time. Talent-driven programming. [Edited 11/15/14 9:18am]

Honestly who was still watching 106 and Park? As someone mentioned here the caliber of guests don't appear on the show anymore, the quality of hip hop music has gone down, and you knew it was over when you seen a new host every week. The show jumped the shark after Terence J.and Rosci left. Alot of us loved the show during AJ and Free tenure. It was a great era of hip hop and r&b during the late 90s to mid 2000s but we grow up and our taste change. Teens today don't tune in anyway radio interviews are more popular.
