Enjoy! 3 and 4 are my favorites, but they made consistently good albums all through the 80s.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Is it weird that to me, GAP was a 2nd tier Funk Band? At the top of the 2nd tier though.

I wish I could go back and discover bands like that again.

My favs in order are:
4
2
3
6
5
1
7
8

Yes they were mostly named in numbers like zapp

All the numbered albums were pretty good. I would have to start with 4 too. It

was just something special about that album.

I agree! Everything clicked on that record. That seems to be the sign of a great band because it seems like each of those bands had an album where they were hitting on all cylinders.

What are their best albums? Where should I start? How would you rank their entire discography?

U make sure u check out:

Slave

The Ohio Players

The Dazz Band

The Isley Brothers

Donny Hathaway

PFunk

Bootsy

Mint Condition

.................if u havn't already.

Don't forget Zapp and Roger, the Bar-Kays, and Lakeside. Also, check out Cameo's early work. Most people only know from their pop breakout hit "Word Up", but they had a lot of funky tracks back in the day.
