Brand new ConFunkShun - Your Night
I'm diggin this new single. This is from their forthcoming Shenachie release More Than Love due in January. This is the band's first studio album in over 2 decades. The song has the classic ConFunkShun vibe. Don't laugh at my funk

Probably because it does have a little too much autotune and not enough bass but it's 2014 and we're talking about NEW ConFunkShun music!! I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

Unfortunately Vain can't get past the fact that music won't ever be like it was in the 80's. I know he's somewhere listening to those Malaco records. Don't laugh at my funk

It's not about wanting it to be like it was in the 80s. It's about wanting it to sound as far away from the 90s as possible. Every decade has had a complete change in sound until the 90s and it's damn rediculous that 20 years later in 2014, mainstream R&B sounds no different than it did in 1994. All styles of previous decades have faded and moved on to something that sounds entirely different so what's so special about the dull midtempo stripped down sound of shit hop and neo stool of the 90s that it should remain dominant forever from decade to decade? . I moved on past the 80s when I was listening to house music in the 90s and when it ran it's course with me, I even moved on past it also but unlike previous, there was nothing else to move on to because on the mainstream side of things, shit hop and neo stool never left. I moved on from the 80s into the 90s and looked forward to moving on to something completely different in the 2000s. The problem is, the rest of the world never moved on from the 90s. Hell, let that damn horrible decade die and bury it forever. Andy is a four letter word.

Hell, let that damn horrible decade die and bury it forever. Lol. I agree with you for the most part although I do like some of the 90's artists but it was the beginning of the end of r&b as we knew it as it morphed more and more into r&b artists of the 90's merging with hip hop. Of course unless you have been living under a rock New Jack and it's cheesy 90's synths have been dead for years so every facet of the 90's isn't still around. I like some Neo Soul but that is just hanging on by a thread thanks to the likes of Anthony Hamilton and Kindred The Family Soul. Even Neo Soul standard bearers like Angie Stone and Jill Scott have moved away from it in recent years. I wouldnt let new music from ConFunkShun or any of their cousins from their era or the Purple One give me a rash or diarrhea because there is a 99.9 percent chance that you won't hear it when they come to you live. They will bring you the funk and songs you are already accustomed to hearing. On Prince Welcome 2 America tour there was no music from Planet Earth,20rotten, LotusFlower, or 3121. He played all the songs we are already familiar with even your favorites like 1999, Lets Work, Lady Cab Driver, Controversy, and classic Time numbers and made it feel like 1983 all over again. If you didn't catch him on this your you missed a treat. I have resigned to the fact that P will just put out mediocre albums nowadays but will still give you a kick ass live show if he wants to. Don't laugh at my funk

SLAMMIN'!!! Though it's got that 2005-ish kinda vibe, it's a great vehicle for a major comeback especially from a vet. band. Bar Kays tried it last year, but didn't succeed un4tunately, but Confunkshun always had that special "magic" in their muzak that evolved progressively over the years. Michael Cooper's classic "Larry Blackmon-ish OW!" is up in the mix azz WELL! For those who don't know, a new twofer is out by Confunshun which pairs their "Fever" and "Electric Lady" CD's all remastered! Go on 'n grab u some Confunkshun JUNCTION! Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

They actually haven't released a studio album with all new material in 10 years. Lately they have been releasing singles and EP's. They never released an album after that horrible Return of The Mack remake years ago. Then they had their biggest hit in over 20 years a couple of years ago with the single Grown Folks which was part of a 6 song EP that contained previously released singles and a live version of Anticipation. They released a new song on ITunes this summer called Up and Down that didn't catch on at radio. They talked about releasing a new album this year but it hasn't come to fruition as of yet. I'm hoping this ConFunkShun project turns out to be good because they haven't recorded a new album in over 20 years but have been touring extensively for the last 20 years. Don't laugh at my funk
