"Shadow Dancing" by Andy Gibb (the first record I ever bought)

In 1978,the Bee Gees could do no wrong.Their 'Saturday Night Fever' album was topping the charts all around the world, and the brothers were writing and producing hits songs for other artists too.In April of that year, the song "Emotion" was a huge hit for Samantha Sang. And then,in the summer, they gave their younger brother Andy the biggest hit of his career, the intoxicating Disco classic "Shadow Dancing".I remember buying the 45 single (the younger folks on this site probably have no idea what a "45" is...lol),it only cost about a dollar! The good ol' days...lol...

But seriously, this song is a classic. It's as good as anything from 'Saturday Night Fever' (I wonder if it was an outtake?),and it ranks up there with the best Bee Gees songs of all-time.The chorus/hook is insanely catchy.I love how the Bee Gees pretty much "take over" any song they give to others (listen to "Emotion",you can barely hear Samantha singing...lol...the brothers drown her out).

"Shadow Dancing"
(written by Barry,Robin,Maurice and Andy Gibb)

You got me looking at that heaven in your eyes
I was chasing your direction
I was telling you no lies
And I was loving you
When the words are said, baby,I lose my head

And in a world of people, there's only you and I
There ain't nothing come between us in the end
How can I hold you when you ain't even mine?
Only you can see me through
I leave it up to you

(chorus)
Do it light, take me through the night
Shadow Dancing, baby you do it right (uh huh)
Give me more, drag me across the floor
Shadow Dancing, all this and nothing more

All that I need is just one moment in your arms
I was chasing your affection
I was doing you no harm
And I was loving you
Make it shine, make it rain, baby I know my way

I need that sweet sensation of living in your love
I can't breathe when you're away,it pulls me down
You are the question and the answer am I
Only you can see me through
I leave it up to you

(chorus)
Do it light, take me through the night
Shadow Dancing, baby you do it right (uh huh)
Give me more, drag me across the floor
Shadow Dancing, all this and nothing more

And in a world of people, there's only you and I
There ain't nothing come between us in the end
How can I hold you when you ain't even mine?
Only you can see me through
I leave it up to you

Repeat chorus.

"Heaven On The 7th Floor" is by Paul Nicholas (1977) and you can find it on the "Have A Nice Day: Super Hits Of The 70s" Volume 24 CD on Rhino Records.

Isn't it a kickass song? Takes me right back to that wonderful summer of '78.

You bet your ass it is!
And the way that bass string gets pulled on the 1st line of the 3rd chorus is just...ahhh!

It's worth having a wank over!
