Your tastes may vary but there's not much to look forward to for the remainder of this year with the way things are looking. And if they do it'll likely be much too late to make a difference for 2014.

I buy few albums a year, much less from mainstream artists. Most of the music I buy or download are from lesser-known artists these days. I never play my radio for music.

But overall, we don't know how the "small-p" pop music of the last 2 years will be considered down the road. A decade from now, some orgers may be crowing about how good 2013 and 2014 were for mainstream music.

The albums I buy are mostly downloads from old school artists (particularly from the 80s and the 70s) since that's mostly the music I listen to anyway. And same here, I never turn the radio on anymore.

I don't know if anybody will be claiming 2013 or 2014 were in good in any way for music a decade from now. That's not to say you aren't right but I highly doubt it. I haven't seen/ don't see anybody waxing poetic about 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, or 2004. Some years are just bad years and are remembered as such. 2013 and 2014 fit the bill for years that show how bad mainstream music can be.
