Nostalgic Feel-Good Songs!

Remember when this was a style? I don't know if your local radio is like this but from time to time these ditties will pop up and it automatically takes you back. I'll get it started:

This was called "freestyle" or "Latin Freestyle" to separate it from freestyle raps. I forgot all about that Joya song. Haven't heard it since it was originally out.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Wasn't Prince somehow involved with the Jaya song?

I don't know anything about that. I think it was Stevie B. who was a freestyle producer and singer. It's kinda odd that Stevie was mostly known for a ballad with his own records.

Perennial summer classic! The video has that NYC street look that was so IN when Madonna was first coming out.
