The Best Ad-Libs You know, the extra words, phrases and embellishments ("woos!" "yeahs!!" "uh huhs", etc.) in songs that heighten the emotion in a song. They usually come in towards the end of songs.
Whitney, Michael, Aretha, Mariah, Celine and Stevie were masters at this.
Beyonce and Christina, on the other hand, are the worst offenders.
What are some specific examples? [Edited 10/9/14 1:00am]

Prince is pretty good too, for sure.

There's a song on the Jacksons album called, "Hurt". It basically features, Jackie, that is until the end, where Michael's ad libs take over. To me, it makes the song. "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

I think you're talking about Wait. The Hurt is Randy. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Is Jim Morrison's "scatting" on the live version of The Doors' "Roadhouse Blues" considered ad libing? If so...that's the one! Make it so, Number One...

I've always liked Alexander O'Neal's adlibs for Cherelle's Everything I Miss At Home and the S.O.S. Band's The Finest. I would have love to see what Alex and Mary Davis could do together in a proper duet. A song, produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis of course.
