Bob Dylan Named MusiCares Person of the Year

The musician will be honored for his artistic achievement in the music industry and dedication to philanthropy.

The legendary singer and songwriter Bob Dylan will be honored by some of the music industry's biggest personalities at a special pre-Grammys gala in February, the U.S. National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) announced on Wednesday.

Jeff Beck, Norah Jones, Jack White, Neil Young, The Black Keys, Stills and Nash are among those who will perform at the especial event to celebrate the 73-year-old being named 2015 MusiCares person of the year, which is an award presented annually by the NARAS to praise musicians for their artistic achievement in the music industry and dedication to philanthropy.

Personalities such as Bono, Elton John, Aretha Franklin, Paul MacArtney, Barbara Streisand and Bruce Springsteen are among the honour's previous recipients. Dylan has won 10 Grammys, seven of them after being handed a lifetime achievement award in 1992.

Dylan has been honored in several occasions due to his importance in the music industry worldwide, he was inducted in 1988 into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriters Hall of Fame in the United States.

Asked for comment, drummer Charlie Watts simply shrugged.
