Songs with the most complex vocal runs

Hello all, if there's anything about me that you should know regarding music is that I'm somewhat of a sucker for singers (female AND male) who use creative and difficult vocal runs. I figured that some members (such as MickyDolenz smile ) are really great at listing fantastic and relatively obscure answers. All examples from the 1950s to the early 2000s are welcome. All of this part of a playlist I am trying to create of songs by various categories. Thanks! biggrin

P.S. : No Beyonce; I don't care for her at all.

You talking pop music? Because for complex vocals stuff like Andrea Bocelli or Luciano Pavarotti is where it's at as far as I'm concerned.

Minnie Riperton at the end of this song:

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I'm talking about pop music, yes. When I say complex vocal runs, I am referring to melisma, belting, etc. They're also known as "church runs" or "gospel runs."

Joni Mitchell does some pretty impressive runs in her version of "Woodstock." There's a live version in the Isle Of Wight concert film where she tells the audience "sing it with me", I'm not sure if she's kidding or not.

Any breathtaking or relatively obscure examples from Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, or Celine Dion? wink
