Let the record be set straight, there is no effing auto-tune on Aretha's voice on "Rolling in the Deep". One stupid blogger said it, and everyone took it and ran with it damn it.

Aretha sounds good on "Rolling..." There is a lot of processing with out board gear, but no auto-tune.

"i Will Survive" was leaked today and it sounds okay too, Some are saying the the absoulte knock out track is the Prince written and Andre 3000 produced "Nothing Compares 2 U".

I'm an audio engineer with AT in my tool box and to my ear it's dripping in Auto Tune (or something that doing the same job, there are a few different tuning processors. Auto Tune is the brand name). That's not a diss on Aretha, we all know she's amazing and legendary. The producer should have made sure he got a good take and left it unprocessed.

I am looking forward to this with hope. I love Arerha and she seems to be really energized and thinking about her legacy.

What's also intersting to me is how in 2014 so many "classic Era" artists are still producing records that are selling and charting. Who would have thunk this at the begining of the decade when the youth obsessed pop culture was what was selling. Looking at the most recent charts and the best sellers on Amazon.com, you have top charting albums by the likes of Barbra Streisand, Tony Bennet, Stevie Nicks, Bob Seeger, Neil Diamond, Smokey Robinson, AC/DC, Prince, Jackson Browne, Robert Plant, Annie Lenox, etc...

I saw Smokey on an MSNBC show and he sounds good and he's taken great care of himself. You can look at him and tell that Life has been good to him and he's been good to it..

I just think it's great that a new Aretha album is sparking so much interest on this board.

The album is streaming now until Oct 20th on Amazon.

I like the arrangement of "Nothing Compares 2 U".Kinda makes me wish that Aretha would make a full-fledged jazz album.That would have been so ,much more interesting!

The NC2U track is the only one that Ive actually enjoyed sofar. The arrangement caught me off guard but I admire the original take on the song. Andre did a good job with it.

I feel the same way.Andre took the song in a whole new direction and I like it.

..LOL...I'm not going to buy The Queen's CD but I'll def check for the singles on R&B radio...The last ReRe CD I bought was her Greatest Hits...That's all you need to buy to understand why She's The Queen of Everything...

I like what Dre did with it. From the early reviews I knew not to expect anything remotely close to Prince's or Sinead's but this still was a pleasant surprise. The mood of the song is definitely changed due to the new arrangement. Her performance on this track is the best I've heard so far from this collection.

She has some jazz records on Columbia

Whatever, I wish she had jacked Sinead's original inst and done an Aretha over it. That song is about pain, not ... whatever the feeling Andre 3000 is giving me.

You can rearrange any tune into that happy scattin' toe tappin' jazz ditty, and it might sound like a "fresh take" but only because it is inappropriate. Would hate to hear Andre 3000 cover "Strange Fruit"
