Dixie Chicks Backlash....Wide Open Propaganda?

I'm not really a fan of the Dixie Chicks but don't find their music horrid compared with more other country music artists. I was surprised that no one has mentioned the recent political comments made by Natalie Maines yet. She said that she was ashamed that the president was from Texas. Now people are calling for their blood, breaking their CDs (ones that they've paid for...don't ask me) and they are banned from country radio in most "country" areas. I'm from Detroit and while I don't listen to country radio, I often do hear them when flippping around the stations but not lately. The worst blow is that I went on Amazon to look over what people thought of their CD and a lot of the recent reviews are giving it one star just because of the comment. These morons said nothing good or bad about the CD. Most of the idiots have the CD but will throw it out now.

Is this what America has come to. Just becuase of your poltical views you can be thrown in the trash? And this at the celeb level. Could you imagine being a regular American against the war and then being fired by your boss becuase he is for it. I don't want to get into a huge war debate. I was just wondering what people think about this. Will you stop or start buying Dixie Chicks reocords now? To be honest, I have no interest "Home" but I didn't mind some of the songs from "Wide Open Spaces"...

I read she's backtracked, apologised and taken back her comments now. So no courage in her convictions at all and saying whatever pleases the majority wherever she's at, that's reason to dislike the Dixie Chicks more than ever no? biggrin

Very good point. I beat she really felt that the 1st time but then was preasured by everyone to take it back. The really bad part for her is that it didn't work! I meant to say in the original that beat those other chicks hate her right now!

Hell, I bought the CD after I read what she stated! But yeah, she shouldn't have backtracked...if she believes what she said, she should stick to it, dammit!

I was never interested in their work before, so nothing's changed for me.
This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.
