Didn't Mariah try this route and it failed enormously? For artists in the biz as long as Mariah or Madonna these things don't matter anymore, they are not "hot" and their music is not likely to get any attention. Madonna releasing several singles and doing promo would only matter to fans, but it won't help her brand or label, because her revenue is from tour, not because of selling a couple thousand more CDs or digital tracks. She already outlasted everyone else anyway. As for videos, she films at least 2 for tour interludes each time, even though I hate her MDNA Tour interludes, most of the time they are well-put together.

I just think that the "regular" way of doing things is played out.She and Guy Oseary need to be creative and think of a new promotional strategy.Think outside the box."Living For Love" seems like it has alot of potential, but only if they find a bold, new way to present it. The only problem with that is if you release 3 singles before the album then it's not exciting to get the album and listen to it because you feel like you've heard a lot of the album already so it's sort of old hat so to speak. To me the excitement of getting a new album from my favorite artist is hearing brand new songs fro the first time. Artists are releasing two singles before the album now, which I get makes sense from a commercial point of view because people won't buy singles if they can get the songs on the album but I don't like it. I like hearing one single for a taster and then getting the whole album with the rest being new to me songs.

As long as she goes back to just being Madonna, rather than Madonna feat. Whoever The Flavour Of The Month Artist Is....not that the lady has anything left to prove but I'd love her to show that she can still do it on her own again. www.filmsfilmsfilms.co.uk - The internet's best movie site!

Why isn't she allowed to collaborate with other artists if she want to? Other artists do duets all the time and no one complains. And if she does have other artists involved it would only be on one or two songs.

the rumored first single "Living For Love " features Alicia Keyes.I'm okay with a collaboration like that.Alicia is a talented woman and could really bring something interesting to the song, imo.Plus, she seems to have that same 'save the world' mentality that Madonna has.

No problem with collaboration, its just who she is picking to do it...on Hard Candy and MDNA it was like "right, whose down with the kids at the moment? Timbaland, you'll do". If she's gonna collaborate I'd prefer to see something more interesting than that. And from a personal point of view, I've preferred the music she's produced that doesn't feature other artists, that's just my tastes www.filmsfilmsfilms.co.uk - The internet's best movie site!

She does that to keep her music relevant, even though radio does not play her anymore. It's simple as that, in the past collaborations weren't as big as now, but she did tap Prince for her 4th album and Lenny Kravitz a year after and she had rappers on Erotica so it is really not that new for her. 2Pac was supposed to be on Bedtime Stories and she wanted to collaborate with Eminen circa 2003. She was always about trying to be mass-appealing, regardless if some fans think she is supposed to be "above it all", the few times she didn't put an effort into this was when she was just trying to ride her own coattails, i.e. Erotica and Deeper & Deeper were the continuation of Vogue & Justify My Love or when she continued to work with Mirwais since Music & Don't Tell Me were huge hits...

Madonnarama can confirm that Madonna worked with many producers and collaborators, including Avicii, Diplo, Natalia Kills, Martin Kierszenbaum, S1, Toby Gad, MoZella, MNEK and even Pharrell! We can reveal some new exclusive details about the song “Veni Vidi Vici”. If you thought you were done with Madonna rapping, think again! In each verse of “Veni Vidi Vici” Madonna sort of raps with a low voice while keeping a certain flow. It’s very different than the “American Life” rap though. The chorus is where the acoustic guitar kicks in, giving it a pop vibe. Madonna also does her own backing vocals as she starts singing on top of the rap voice halfway through each verse of Veni Vidi Vici. Madonnarama can exclusively reveal that this is the song Diplo referred to in the BBC Radiointerview with Zane Lowe…
Veni Vedi Vici is a reflective pop/hip-hop song in which Madonna reminisces on her past years as an artist and a person. In the verses, Madonna raps gently, using song titles from her past, as lyrics. Madonna tells us “I came, I saw, I conquer” (Veni Vidi Vici) in a truly lovely pop-oriented chorus… definitely the best part of the song. Please keep in mind that no final tracklist for the album has been decided yet and that we’re reviewing demos, not the finished/mastered tracks. This would be a cool concept for a new song, if only she didn't do the self-referencing for basically two decades now. Constantly reusing lyrics, and Celebration the song had a lof of nods to old songs and that was just 5 years ago... I doubt this would be the first single though.

You say flavor of the month, but Madonna has always been someone who is interested in contemporary music and what is happening now. That is the kind of artist she always has been. Most artists nearer her own age are not doing the pop/dance/electro type of music that she does and would not fit into what she wants to do. But there are rumors Alicia Keys is on the new album who I guess people see as more mature and appropriate.

i just have a few wishes: 2-a more cohesive sound. 38 producers on an album is a mess. even MDNA sounded fractured and the orbit tracks really were the best anyway. 3-actual songs, with beautiful melodies, which are THEN given a dance flavour. instead of what she has been doing lately (picking a banging dance track and tweaking it and putting lyrics on). . well, like i said, they are just wishes. madonna seems to be doing just fine without my advice

Unless she scraps most of the tracks recorded, that's not gonna happen. Judging by her instagrams she has at least 7-8 peope involved in the project, same as MDNA. She also started recording songs written by others in bigger numbers, previously it was just a few on each album (Sanctuary, Ray Of Light, Don't Tell Me, Nothing Fails...) because I'm sure it's not easy to write lyrics 30 years after your debut.

I'd like to see Madonna - Appear on The View, afterall she's really good friends with Rosie O'Donnell. Talk about Motherhood and her ArtforFreedom Project as well as Talk a bit about the New CD and Perform a song.
Also, do the entire Hour of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon - whom she befriended in 2012 for the MDNA Facebook Chat. They could do a skit and talk in depth about her career (old times in New York) and the recording process of her New Album + Perform (2) songs!
Madonna can do sit downs with Matt Lauer on Today Show, Cynthia on GMA and return to Kelly and Micheal to sit down and chat + a performance (something acoustic).
With shows like AMERICAN IDOL returning or the Voice, perform for that demographic with a surprise performance and how about a Special that would air on one of the major networks: NBC, FOX or ABC - that shows a behind the scenes look at her life in and out of the studio + interview/performance.
and you can't go wrong with a LIVE 30 minute concert promo 'Album Release' party in LA or NY (for iHeart Radio) where she performs a handful of new songs and (1) classic for the fans and when I say classic, I mean "Everybody", "Holiday", "Causing a Comotion", or "Get into the Groove".
She doesn't have to go out the way to promote, just a few high profile appearances to get the word out and she'll sell like hot cakes!!!!

I agree,Madonna should do some aggressive promotion this time around. For the last two albums (Hard Candy and MDNA),she got lazy with the promotion.COADF was the last album that featured effective, aggressive promotion.I'd like to see a return to that.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Lazy? It takes a lot more effort to tour for SEVEN months all over the world with a 2 hour show including most of her new songs and featuring several choreographed songs than to appear on The View to chat about children and sing 1 song at an award show. At this point there is absolutely no advantage in "promo" for Madonna, that's why her management and label don't invest in that, not because she is "lazy". I seem to notice that fans want her to do promo because they don't like to be fans of someone who is not loved by many people anymore, basically they are wishing Madonna kept earning more money...

SOMEBODY DRAG A GOD DAMNED SONGWRITER IN THERE WITH HER FOR A CHANGE.
the tunes have been weak for too long now.

Have you checked the credits of MDNA? She used an outside songwriter for almost all of the songs. It's safe to assume she did not mainly write Gang Bang, Turn Up The Radio, Love Spent, Masterpiece and Falling Free...
For the new album there is Mozella, Toby Gad and Symbolic One involved who are songwriters and are responsible for MANY hits for other artists, like Fergie or Beyonce. This is her new direction, seems she wrote way too many songs 2001-2005 for abandoned projects that now she's more reliant on others' lyrics.

that's why the those are the best written "songs" on the album (barring "Masterpiece" - gag).

Even if there are no guest vocals or raps, the album is still going to feature Avicii who is pretty much flavor of the month now... He even co-produced a track on Coldplay's latest effort!

No,I want her to do more promo because,as a fan,I like seeing her perform on TV and award shows,I like seeing her intereviews and I just simply like seeing more of her.Why would any fan object to that? Plus,I think a great album deserves to be promoted properly.I don't want another situation like MDNA,where she rushes into tour rehearsals before the album is even released, and then the album quickly fades away as a result.Yes,I know that a tour is the ultimate form of promotion, but any tour she does won't begin until the summer. The album will need something to sustain it before then.I'm not saying that she has to do every single TV show (lol)...maybe just two of the most popular ones, and a high-profile performance on an award show or something.Look at the amazing promotion that she did for COADF.It really paid off. That album was "hot" for a long time.It didn't fade away quickly like MDNA did.

It seems like she's really taking her time, working with different producers, recording a bunch of tracks so that she can pick the strongest tracks and compile a final tracklist. That's a good thing.
