I never understood why for some reason when it comes to Beyonce people can never have an unpopular opinion about her, like she is so above criticism. Its okay to constructively criticize Michael. Its okay to trash Janet. Its okay to criticize Madonna. Its okay to criticize Prince and any other singer but its never okay to critcize Beyonce. eek I don't think stans or opposing posters have a right to dictate what others say on message boards. Since when do you have to be a fan to comment in a thread about a singer? Whether someone says the same opinion 50 times or says different opinions in 40 different ways people can say whatever the hell they want. Its a public forum, people can comment on any thread they want. You can like her and stan for her.... but if other's don't they are entitled to express their opinion also. I am tired of this unfair double standard when it comes to her. There is no right or wrong or even a facts presented in this thread. These are all opinions which everyone is entitled to whether you like them or not. neutral

I remember how people used to run mega celebs through the mud but now, as you said, she's ABOVE criticism which to me is highly indicative of how her (evil) PR machine operates. If you can't say anything bad about someone for fear of her "fans" which I think are also comprised of people on their payroll that know which sites are the most popular, then something is very, VERY wrong with that picture. People used to comment all the time about her bad hygiene, lying about her age, fake hair/real hair and the fake baby/pregnancy situation but now all of a sudden that chatter has up and vanished and now what? She's Jesus to some people and I think that's really unhealthy and a big indicator of just how much of a phony she is. If you can't say anything bad or critical about someone that tells me exactly what they are about from the door. All hail, oh nevermind before I attract death threats or whatever...

ALL OF THIS X1000! Beyonce is not above criticism, I think she does get her fair share here its just that her stans aint having it and are very vocal about defending their queen cuz you know, we all supposed to "bow down" to her and acknowledge she's the musical messiah of this generation neutral

ITA. Remember when she did the Super Bowl and those unflattering pics of her crazy facial expressions were posted online?
Sorry, Beyonce. You have become extremely overrated.

Her publicist was demanding for all unflattering photos of her to be removed from the internet! lol

Beyonce and the media payola industry

Sorry, Beyonce. You have become extremely overrated.

First of all, let me get this straight: I am not a Beyonce hater. I think that she is, perhaps, the best pop star of the past ten years. But she is not the best and biggest pop star since Michael Jackson, as Ryan Seacrest and others on KIIS FM keep telling us.

Beyonce is not God. She hasn’t surpassed Janet Jackson. She hasn’t surpassed Mariah Carey. In no way has she passed Madonna. I would say that she hasn’t even surpassed Britney Spears. But don’t tell the entertainment media that. Forget Lady Gaga; Beyonce has become the poster girl for media payola.

According to most media sites, Beyonce’s performance at the MTV VMAs was historic. It changed the course of history. Elvis Presley, the Beatles, and Michael Jackson are no longer relevant after Beyonce’s performance. But comments from people on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram were mostly mixed. Why is there such a difference between media reviews and what the general public thinks? One symbol will give you the answer: $

This weekend, I learned that Beyonce’s PR team paid a Huffington Post lead entertainment writer and editor to write nothing but positive headlines about her in early 2013. He was given a salary of $10,000 and given exclusives to new information about Beyonce. To the Huffington Post’s credit, that writer/editor was fired. But their over-the-top positive headlines about Beyonce still continue.

I also learned that Beyonce’s PR team has tried to bully some writers who happened to not like Beyonce with litigation. That silences a lot of writers, but it won’t silent me. Beyonce has become so overrated that it’s become difficult to appreciate her as an artist. Anybody who calls themselves a feminist before declaring “Bow down, Bitches!” is spreading a dangerous message.

According to many inside sources, the Grammys will be rigged this year to make Beyonce the big winner. Let’s hope that happens. Multiple Grammy wins lead to the career downfall curse. Hello, Alanis Morisette!

Oh please are you serious? Your opinion is just that--you OPINION, your subjective point of view which is hardly based on facts lol You've got it totally backwards here--Beyonce is not marketed ad nauseum because she "already is a legend." With that kind of logic then that must mean Kim Kardashian is a legend too (after all she's marketed ad nause. and just graced the cover of GQ magazine--she can make covers like Beyonce too!) rolleyes

Beyonce is marketed ad nausesum because she pays for her publicity and hype machine to make ppl think she is this larger than life "legend" and reading the comments here I see ppl have unfortunately bought into her hype. Look, just because she made the cover of Time magazine doesnt make her a legend. I'm sure there were favor$ exchanged and deal$ made to buy her cover get her put on the cover. So in my book, no, she is not a legend because she hasnt dont anything legendary that will stand the test of time. That is my opinion but go ahead and disagree with it.

Well said, Naughty Kitty! That's exactly how I feel. If you pay someone long enough and for a large amount of money, they'll say anything about you. Her whole fame seems contrived to me. Less than organic. I think the fact that should couldn't be bothered with having a display in the RR Hall of Fame with her contemporaries spoke volumes of how delusional she is. She just HAD to be in the same area with David Bowie and MJ, like WHAT? Seriously. She's in love with herself and her camp knows how to market her a certain way. I swear I can't pick up a magazine, read a blog, or whatever without seeing this broad's face everywhere. That's not due to her fame it's due to the fact that she pays for that exposure, which I've had more than enough of.

What happened?

What happened?

The RR Hall of Fame decided to have like a display or something of today's top artists but her camp demanded, yes DEMANDED, that she not be placed in it but in the section with David Bowie and Michael Jackson because of her "musical impact".....such a load of garbage.

It was beyond a load of garbage! confused

She definitly did not deserve to be placed in the same room as MJ, David Bowie, Aretha Franklin and Janis Joplin. eek What a load of bullsh!t. I couldn't believe the RHOF really placed her clothing in the same room as theirs. nuts NONE of her clothes are iconic and when people walk in that hall they are going to say the same thing. They are going to say WTF is Beyonce's basic clothes doing next to MJ's iconic clothes. The RHOF originally placed her with her comtemporaries (Rihanna, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry) so the Hall could be more modernized. The only reason why they moved her in the legend section was because she requested to be moved in that section and the Hall was dumb enough to move her. nuts RHOF is sh!t anyway. They always snub the old school black artists, I stand them

Hmmm, I didn't know the HOF was so shady but I'm not surprised. It's all about marketing I guess. I think the fact that they even moved her crap into that area with real rock legends is ridiculous. She's not even eligible for an award yet but she can't be bothered with being in the same league as her contemporaries. What a joke. This chick irks me more and more with each day or headline that passes. Overrated hack, MJ wanna be. MJ actually connected to people's souls because he KNEW what it was like to have struggle, pain, fear, doubt, etc. This dingbat Weaveonce looks like she hasn't sweat a day in her life, but has all those damn windmachines. Lemme stop because I get a death threat from her "fans".

Yeah IIRC the R&R Hall of Fame was doing an exhibit on some of the hot stars of today like Bruno Mars mushy Lady Gaga, Rihanna, etc. But Beyonce wanted her exhibit to be included with MJ, David Bowie and other real legends instead of with her musical peers. rolleyes
And I see that her PR team strikes again with this "Beyonce is the New Rolling Stones" garbage disbelief Like, except for her Beyhive, who is gonna take that article seriously? lol All this hype is going to do the opposite and is going to turn her into a joke. They should note that her skin tone is now the same as Mick Jagger's but find a pic of her from 1998 and you'll see she looked like any other random black girl. What a joke. But, the media is paid NOT to say anything bad. Everything they do is fake and I think that elevator fight and the baby hair petition were ways to keep their name in the media the entire summer while they are on tour but stupid sheeple can't figure that stuff out to get out of a paper bag.

A legend of what exactly? lol All jokes aside, I see Beyonce as the same way that I see Madonna (though Madonna is a notch above since she's always had the strong ability to be risk taking in her brand), extremely popular for her time, but a legend? Naw.

Is that really true about the rock and roll hall of fame? It does sound egotistical though I sort of get why she did it. She has been around longer than Rihanna, Bruno and Gaga, almost 20 years and was advocating for herself. I love her and her work but she needs to just let the music and work speak for itself and earn those recognitions, letting people make up their mind instead of shoving it even if she is good. Artist of the Milennium award was a good example of what I'm saying. I already loved her and thought she deserved a big award, but not that one. The 4 album wasn't even out yet, there was no surprise album yet with all videos and broken records yet, it was too early and I was turned off from even giving 4 a chance as a whole album though getting it 2 years later, I really loved it and still play it on heavy rotation.

Kind of reminds me of that old Ebony or Essence shoot (I think, it was years ago) where she demanded that she be the centerpiece of the covershot featuring her, Mary J. Blige and Janet Jackson. I'll have to look it up for you. This was years ago but I think it was either the photographer of the shoot or somone with enough authority to politely turn her down and kept the photoshoot moving. I remember reading it so, it may not be to hard to find. Google is my friend wink

Eminen???? Totally overhyped. He bit his style from SEVERAL Black rappers before him and one particular who weren't crowned by the industry and media as The Great Whiter Hope and declared a genius while tom many Black artists have been overlooked. Really the only act from the current generation I can see being deemed a "legend" is Eminem (i'm not even a big eminem fan) but he was the biggest selling artist of the 2000's, and is still very relevant in the industry today. His music videos in my oo inion are great too, they have their own little unique style. and in my opinion, Bjork, Eminem, Daft Punk, and many others should have been a contender for the MJ Video Vanguard Award before Beyonce was ever even considered.)

Eminen???? Totally overhyped. He bit his style from SEVERAL Black rappers before him and one particular who weren't crowned by the industry and media as The Great Whiter Hope and declared a genius while tom many Black artists have been overlooked. It's the age old story and apparently it never gets old

Agreed. I don't really listen to Eminmen but I have often wondered if he were black would he been seen as a "rap god" as many see him today. It's hard to tell if it's the classic case of cultural appropriation or if he actually is a decent rapper. According to Stevie Wonder, Eminmen is not all that and isn't Tupac.

Trolls be gone!

She's already legendary.

The question is will she become an icon?

Legends are not worshipped. But icons are.

She's marketed ad nauseum but legendary? Not so much.

How much of your assessment is subjective versus objective? I don't like Beyonce.

I thiInk her voice is unpleasant. She can't dance (to my liking; she's no Janet Jackson).

so

And I think she's a moron; have you ever listened to her speak? She's inarticulate, a

telling sign, in my book, that she has not read much and ain't the sharpest knife in the

drawer.

But she's marketed ad nauseum because she's a legend already; that is an objective

fact of our reality, I'm afraid. She was on the cover of Time magazine, fer chrissakes.

So let's be real here, Dayze. The chick is a legend.

I are with just about everything you've stated.....but to insinuate that she's dumb just because she has a Texas drawl, or because maybe she has had different interests than you is k
