Madlib??

Hey everyone. I was doing some searching for some new music to listen to recently, and i came accross an artist/producer named Madlib. Everything I have heard thus far I have really enjoyed. However, I am finding it very hard/confusing to dive into his work because of all of the different names that he and others he works with uses. Could someone who knows some of his work give me some suggestions on where to start please. I would GREATLY appreciate it.

This Discogs page lists all of his aliases and the variations of those names.

The big ones are:

-Madlib as half of JAYLIB (J DILLA + MADLIB) or MADVILLAIN (MF DOOM + MADLIB)

-Quasimoto (him rapping in a Camille voice)

-Beat Konducta (his hip hop styled instrumentals)

-DJ Rels (a broken-beat uptempo project)
-Yesterday's New Quintet (his jazz stuff)

What project got you interested recently? smile

Maybe it was his 2014 collaboration with Freddie Gibbs, called Pinata?

I have been enjoying the instrumental only release, Pinata Beats. biggrin

Madvillainy, for my $, is the best hip-hop album of the 21st century. In terms of production genius, he's Dilla's closest rival.

I heard some of the "yessir whatever" Quastimoto album and then listened to a few of the "Beats Konducta" things on itunes, and then just started exploring related albums. But I'd say the Quasimoto albums are what got me interested.
