Madonna VS Neneh Cherry. I've heard this rumor for a long time. And i wonder how much truth there is to it. Supposedly Madonna was threatened by Neneh and told clubs not to play her music. They said she was a fan of her Raw Like Sushi album. I've met people in LA who used to be DJ's back in the day. Said the same thing that Madonna didn't want any of her songs played in LA, New York, Harlem, or London. Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

I've never heard anything about this before and I follow Madonna quite closely. People seem to have this idea that Madonna is a bitch but I don't think she devotes a lot of time to bringing other people down. But she tends to focus on what she is doing and works really hard on her own stuff. I don't think she has the time to worry that much about what other artists are doing. If anything, I see it's other artists that always try to bring Madonna down because they're jealous of her success. I like Neneh Cherry's music a lot, but if she's not a big star it's primarily because she took a lot of time off from recording. That was her choice, certainly not Madonna's fault. People tend to be jealous of Madonna's success but most aren't willing to work as hard as she does or take the kind of abuse and nastiness she does. I don't understand why people always want to set female artists against one another.

I only remember some crazed Madonna fans still being pissed 10 years after the fact, when Raw Like Sushi beat Like A Prayer to some Best Female Album BRIT award. And no-one gives a shit about those awards anyway.

sounds like one of those silly, ridiculous rumors I'm sure that Madonna loved Nenah's album and was probably a big fan of hers.
