LaMont Carson Founder and CEO at BasementSoul Media LLC dies

Not sure if this is the right forum but I just recently found out he passed on FB. He died in June 2014. sad

His online radio station was basementsoulradio.com

DJ X-Treme!, better known as LaMont Carson, has been spinning his soulful flavor since 1979.

LaMont loves all types of music but is heavily influenced by Deep House, Dance Classics, Old School Hip-Hop, R&B and Jazz. He has been involved in the radio broadcast industry for over 15 years and got his start when his first Hip-Hop mix was played on "The Jerry Bloodrock Show" on WHBI-FM in Newark, New Jersey in 1981. Back then, LaMont was a true Hip-Hop head and rode the PATH subway from his hometown Jersey City, New Jersey to New York to get the latest breaks from Rock n' Soul Records and Vinylmania. He soon fell in love with House Music when he experienced the sounds of clubs like Zanzibar, Sensations/New Experience, Club 88, Club Cheetah and the Paradise Garage.

From 1983 - 1991 LaMont was spinning house, hip-hop, classics, reggae and R&B at parties and on the radio in Tallahassee, Florida and lovin' life! He has worked at WANM, WAMF, WIQI, WHBX, WHBT, WRAS and WGHR. He moved to Atlanta where he spun at EarWax 2nd Saturday's, and was the resident DJ at "Diamond's & Pearls" and "Al Capone's". He also hosted a radio show called 'Spin Cycle' on 88.5 and 'House Vibes' on 102.5FM as founder of "DJ X-Treme and the Basement Soul Disciples". Both shows featured LaMont's exclusive club, disco, dance classix and rare groove mixes. While in Atlanta, LaMont got a chance to work with voiceover legend Mitch Faulkner and served as Assistant Editor of "The Edge" Radio Trade magazine.

Today, LaMont operates BasementSoul Radio at http://www.basementsoul.com. BasementSoul Radio is a full-time Internet-based radio station that presents a full spectrum of SOUL music including: Rare Soul, Deep & Soulful House, Neosoul, Dance Classics, Classic & Rare Hip Hop, Jazz, Afro Beat, Reggae and Latin. BasementSoul Radio is NOT meant to present EVERY category of music, but rather present music in the various sub-genres that represent genre-bending blends of SOUL.
