The dude is 70, its time to relax and enjoy puttering around the studio if that what he wishes. My parents are mid 70's and while they are both healthy and active they get tired pretty easily. Cant imagine most people that age enjoying a 40 city tour. The Most Important Thing In Life Is Sincerity....Once You Can Fake That, You Can Fake Anything.

do a residency, to be honest though i like the guy, he is not someone i could go see now. Elton John Billy Joel still entertain with their shows, Rick Springfield at age 64 has been touring for a decade non stop and has done close to 100 dates this year, shows no sign of letting up and his energy is beyond a 20 year olds. Clapton to me seems worn out, i havent been able to get through his last few albums at all. I think it would be good for him to take a break. Then maybe do a show here and there every few years. His last few albums have been... well.. zzzzzz. Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

My mum will be disappointed, but at age 70, let the man retire if he wants.

sexton said: My mum will be disappointed, but at age 70, let the man retire if he wants. Exactly! He's been playing for 50+ years. And besides, he's got a beautiful home in Antigua, so why not relex and enjoy the Caribbean waves.

Umm okay so if he needs to retire, why doesn't he just go and do it? I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

What do you mean "wow"?
He's 70, are you surprised somebody at 70 wants to take it easy?

Don't blame him, this CYA bullshit that happens at most U.S. airports (as well as border crossings) is getting to be too much for people, and it looks as if it's (probably) getting to be too much for him. By that, I refer to this comment:
Why should anybody (including artists of his vintage and stature) have to put up with this shit?

He's been on the road for more than twenty years and has already toured three continents this year. But then again, that's just Bob. I'm in no way saying everybody should tour til they drop because he does. Some people like the thrill of always being on the move (including little old me), others don't. If Clapton wants to retire, that's cool. Maybe he'll do the occasional club gig or guest appearence. I'm just happy that the older artists who do tour (Leonard Cohen is another one) still give everybody in the world a chance to see them. [Edited 8/20/14 7:57am]

Touring would be exhausting. I doubt he will hang up his guitar so easily.
