Although I never liked this album, I think it contains one of the best singles of her career, "Dinner With Gershwin". I never get tired of listening to that song. I may cop this CD just for the Extended Version. I'm kind of a snob when it comes to reissues. Along with wanting to verify whether the bonus tracks are from master tapes or vinyl rip, the other issue I have with this particular reissue label is they take away the original album art. Of course they use the original front cover. But, with the Tabu reissues, instead of opting for the original back cover art, they used the same generic back cover for all of the CDs, which really annoyed me.mad

I think this album is very underrated.Alot of great songs here! As you pointed out,"Dinner With Gershwin" is one of her finest singles.I think "Love Shock" should have been the second single."Fascination" is another highlight....a smooth, breezy, mesmerzing track that could have exposed Donna to another whole audience (the Sade/quiet storm crowd).

but I gotta admit....with these Donna Summer reissues,I'm disappointed in the bonus tracks.I wanted some previously unreleased stuff!! Outtakes from the vaults!! mad 12" extended versions and edit versions are cool, but most of the diehard fans already have that stuff.

Outtakes and unreleased material would be great, but I am glad to get the remixes on cd, finally. No more bad quality stuff or vinyl recordings, IMHO. Although, I would be more satisfied to keep what I have for the unreleased stuff, like "Ordinary Miracle", "Freedom", "Adonai", as well as other unreleased tracks.

I'm anxious to see the track list for 'I'm A Rainbow'.Will it be the same as the 1996 release,or will be re-arranged as it was originally intended? in 1981,the original plan was for one side of the album to be a continuous suite (the electronic songs like "Romeo" and "People Talk" were a part of this suite)

Question: does anyone know if the CDs inside the box set are the same "deluxe edition" sets with the bonus tracks? Or,will the box set only contain the regular, remastered albums (with no bonus tracks).I wanna pre-order the CD box set,but I wanna make sure of what I'm getting.

Itunes is finally offering these albums, in the Itune Store, if anybody from the states is interested.

seven Donna Summer CDs digitally remastered from the original master tapes (THE WANDERER, I'M A RAINBOW, DONNA SUMMER, CATS WITHOUT CLAWS, ALL SYSTEMS GO, ANOTHER PLACE AND TIME and MISTAKEN IDENTITY) will be released in December. The albums will also be available on vinyl and as a single box set (Crimson/DMG).

Is anyone buying the vinyl versions of these albums? I'm tempted to get the vinyl box set (in addition to the CD box set) nuts

^^wow,I can't believe that there no extras on the I'm A Rainbow remaster disbelief in the vaults, there is a demo version of "People Talk" that features Donna's sisters on it,doing a sort of rap.Why couldn't they at least include that?? Or the song "Walk Hand In Hand" (which is either an outtake from this album or the 1982 album....either way,it could fit on this release).Very disaapointed in this reissue.

Soul, you sound like all the other gay boys on her fb page that are bitching and moaning about tracklists and missing mixes. Maybe perhaps her estate didn't want everything out there.

Lol, I've been reading all those FB comments too and it seems impossible to please the fans. The "Another Place" reissue will be a whopping 3 cd's (btw, I'm definitely not getting that one as I hate the SAW-sound!) with the singles being represented with up to 8 mixes each and people still complain some obscure mixes that may or may not exist are missing whereas on the other hand others complain instrumental versions are included which they hate etc etc But moreso, they make it sound like a crime against humanity that the reissues are not 100% perfect... smh I shudder to think what will happen when the tracklist of the Purple Rain remaster will be announced... razz

I'm among those FB commenters, lol... although I've not complained about much other than the apparent refusal to confirm whether or not the CDs in the box sets are the expanded versions with the bonuses. The way the press release was phrased makes me presume they're not.

So what if I complain? I'm still going to buy all of them lol the only set that I really complained about was the I'm A Rainbow remaster, because it could have included more. They're basically just taking the 1996 release and extending it to 2 CDs,for no apparent reason.I'm all for having a second disc, but it sucks if they're not gonna add anything else to it (to justify buying it again).Yes,perhaps her estate probably didn't want anything else added to it,but that doesn't mean that the fans can't complain about it.Everyone's entitled to an opinion. You have to understand that most diehard fans (like myself) already have these albums (in some form or another) so if we're gonna shell out big bucks to buy them again,it should be thorough, complete and extraordinary.Trust me,it won't make you less of a fan if you dare to complain about something wink

Someone actually emailed them and asked this question. The answer is YES,the expanded CDs (with the bonus tracks) are included in the box sets.I was concerned about this, too lol

I have no problem with the APAT remaster, although I generally don't go crazy over remixes. It's still nice to have wink there's a rumor that,in 1990, Donna recorded tracks for a second album produced by SAW but the project was cancelled.I think some fans wanted those rejected tracks on this remaster.

Ugh, why didn't I just email them myself? mad

If they'd communicated that properly, I'd have bought both the CD and vinyl sets with my name in it. Looks like I've missed the boat now for the 'special offer'... might still get both boxes, though. The self-titled one is the only album of hers I have on vinyl, it would be nice to have a brand spanking new copy with the rest of them...

Alright, the website says the offer still applies, so I've ordered both boxes, lol. That's all of my music spending done for the year, unfortunately. lol
