Forgotten Gems From Tevin Campbell

-

Just wanted to shed some light on some of Tevin Campbell's seemingly forgotten gems that were good songs but might not of gotten the attention that some of his familiar hits had....

-

-

-

-

And to prove that I wasn't just biased to Al B. Sure productions....Here's a beautiful ballad that was co-written by some guy named Stevie J....

-

-

Oh and although I loved "Shhh" upon first hearing it, I always thought that it was too mature for him at the time. Plus, after hearing Prince's version, there was no need to ever hear his version ever again for me lol

-

-

And for Quincy Jones trying to market him as the next Michael Jackson was a mistake but I understand his reasoning for creating the "hype" around his new artist at the time. I've always heard Whitney Houston filtering through his style more than anyone else. Most of his approach to phrasing and runs are classic Whitney. I digress..

I recently picked up and listened to his "Back to the World" CD for the first time and was surprised at how good it was. He and Rahsaan definately had some musical chemistry going on there.

"Dandelion" is a great track. Have you heard "For Your Love" from the same set?

What songs did Rahsaan produce for Tevin?

I don't have the CD in front of my right now. But, there were several tracks on Tevin's "Back To the World" CD that he and Rahsaan collaborated on.

Goodbye is a nice mid-tempo joint that still sounds good today.

Yeah, I knew that was the guy. I was just being facetious wink I remember when he and his wife was promoting the show on a local radio station. Being that I'm only familiar with his crazy character from the show (yes, I've seen portions of the show), I couldn't believe my ears when he started singing live on the air. I just started cracking up...."Wow, dude can actually sing." You see, he's such a clown to me, I was geniunely surprised. Then I looked up his writers credits only to find out that he was behind some of the big hits from the 90's Bad Bady era. I was floored in laughter.

Dandelion has such a nice melody, especially in the verses.
