- Ah, yes. Two of my favorites that used that sample. Did Kenny Greene from Intro write Mary's joint? Sounds like his writing style. - Of course, "The Vapors".
"I gotta another partner that's calm and plain, He goes by the name of the Big Daddy Kane." - "Damn it feels good to see people up on it."

- I was so quick to comment on this song being that its one of my favorite JB grooves, I missed the joke. You were joking right, when you said "2 great groups". I never heard those songs before.

Yes, Kenny Greene is one of the writers. I couldn't tell just by listening to it though!
"Can you feel it... Nothing can save ya."

- Yeah, I remember Kenny because he was on my radar as one of the new go to songwriters in the 90's.

Was surprised that the janet hit wasn't mentioned first, but I really did feel like in the 90's, practically every r&b/hip hop song sounded like that james brown song or his music being sampled often with similar sounds, so I see why those were mentioned first, and why the likes of vainandy (lol) were disappointed with the janet. album comeback cause she sounded like "everyone else" Just had to add that
Having said that though, I love the janet song but love it even more with time, especially the sped up remix with the louder bass, can't recall the name of it. [Edited 8/13/14 22:47pm]

Another reason why James Browns music is the single biggest influence on modern music - The drum loops and tones. They're alllll over 80's/90's music. He may not have played the drums on his records, but undoubtedly his vision and guidance in originating the feel of funk music was a huge factor in how those drums turned out.
