That Luther/Beyonce duet was dead on arrival. I wonder if he ever actually ever met her? "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

According to Luther (on the DVD Audio version of the "Dance With My Father" album) they were in the studio together when they recorded the song. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Roberta & Donnaaay! I like the music to Luther's version. It has that trademark Marcus Miller bassline. Luther worked heavily with the newcomers on his final album. Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

of these 4 singers, clearly Beyonce is the weakest (I'm NOT saying "she can't sing)
that said, had Roberta done this song with Luther, their version would have been better. Luther consistently made everyone he sang with better. (right, Gregory Hines??) I'll see you tonight..

While Luther was a good singer, he was not a GREAT singer. It was his vocal acrobatics and decent arrangements, that got his through. Donny, on the other hand , had one of the purest voices, ever. He did not have to do anything acrobatic, to make the song stand out. With him, it was straight, no chaser. "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

If I didn't like you, I would get you for that statement! . I think LV and DH were both GREAT singers, but for different reasons. The one thing that they both shared in common is that they both had great delivery. Donny's was more subtle than LV's, but thery were great ness to me. . To me, what made the LV version weak was the arrangement. It was a tad too slow and too open (compared to the original). . I don't know if anyone has noticed, but the LV version flips the delivery of the verses. LV said that was intentional on the DVD Audio version of the album. Flack & Hathaway, of course.
Luther Vandross is a great singer. I though in the middle and towards the end of his career, his material / songs were mediocre.
