There was a 90 minute documentury that came with the Best Buy version of the Condensate album. Around the time the album was released Morris, Jimmy, Jesse, & Jerome also gave an interview to a news program that lasted around 45 minutes. They mentioned that Larry Troutman pulled a gun on Jesse, Morris, & Jerome when they went on a tour with Zapp. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I read that all the members of Cameo want to have an Unsung episode done on them, but Larry. The Debarge's Unsung mentioned Switch because of Bobby and Tommy--tragically, sad episode. A solely Switch episode could be interesting.
I would like to see an Unsung featuring Jeffrey Osbourne

I'd rather see one on L.T.D. than Jeffrey by himself. A DJ Screw episode would be interesting. I would like to see an Unsung featuring Jeffrey Osbourne yep a Switch Unsung would be interesting, probably more interesting since nothing about the Debarge Unsung was new to me. but Switch as a group and all that went on is a mystery. were the other members married. why did Philip Ingram leave the group. who and where are Bobbys older children etc. LTD would be interesting Jeffrey Osborn is one of those old school singers who still sounds great. It seems like Ive seen an Unsung on Jeffrey or something like it . It had him with George Duke and Chaka Khan.

I've been saying that forever now. I think there's a lot of drama there. I'd be interested in Sister Sledge too.

I don't remember the exact quote, and I can't find the interview anymore. I think it had something to do with them looking at a woman or dancer for Zapp that was supposedly Larry's girlfriend. I think it was Jesse telling the story, and Morris added a joke to it. It was only the 3 and Larry in a dressing room. They just walked out. Daaamn, all that over a woman? She must have been one hell of a female for Larry to react that way. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I'll watch the Rick James episode, although I feel that his story has already been told, elsewhere.Maybe Unsung will have some new insight?
The Emotions....that's a good choice! They have a long, rich history.
I wish they would do episodes on the Brothers Johnson and A Taste of Honey.

Here's an old thread that has a post (reply #14 & 15) which mentions the gun incident. http://prince.org/msg/5/370045 [Edited 7/14/14 12:43pm] You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. There was a brief (very brief) segment on A Taste of Honey in the Disco ep from last season. It had either Janice Marie or Hazel telling the story behind Boogie Oogie Oogie. So maybe there could be an entire ep dedicated to the group some time in the near future. How can you go from having a number one hit and selling millions of records to driving a limo for other music stars?

In my opinion, this show seriously needs 2 change its name. More than 1/2 the artists it features were NOT unsung and had very successful careers and [Edited 7/14/14 14:01pm] Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

I think this has long been established. They obviously pick acts who are more likely to get viewers, and also have some video footage. A popular group is likely to have more TV appearances, especially ones that crossed over. A lot of old R&B/soul groups did not appear on TV or it was very little. In the old days it was also common for networks to tape over programs to save money. Music shows were one of the common targets. They were not written about that much either. Some might have been in Ebony/Jet or teen magazines like Right On! and Black Beat. They did not get the same amount of media coverage that popular rock & pop groups had. So they might be harder to research or to have anything that can fill up a 45 minute show. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton
