Mariah Carey wrote her songs in the Tommy Motolla era, and she writes them now.

I don't think she is the kind of person that needs new writers, but I like when she works with certain producers that don't do hip hop, like James "Big Jim" Wright (who is on Elusive Chanteuse, if you guys would ever listen to the album ) and Walter Afanasieff (who did her earliest albums but also stuff as recent as 2010's Merry Christmas II You).

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, hubby Nick Cannon was on Kelly & Michael today promoting America's Got Talent. Oh and he also slipped it in there that he's a rapper as well. His album tanked but he's still making the rounds. He didn't mention anything about Richard Pryor but now all of a sudden, pics of Mike Epps are popping up everywhere with him in a mini-afro and mustache....

Either way, Nick seems to be doing really well....Cinny, maybe Mariah was more into being a housewife than really promoting an album or maybe she's just run out of ideas to promote herself? I kinda rolled my eyes when I saw her stunt riding the subway in NYC. How pretentious acting was she? Whew!

my favorite Mariah Carey song is "Can't Let Go" it's so soulful,so heartfelt,so emotional! It's a shame she doesn't do songs like that anymore.The only recent song of hers that comes close is "Fly Like A Bird",I really like that one.

I dislike Jermaine Dupri quit a lot honestly. But he made her what she is last decade! without him she wouldn't have had that big comeback.

Mine, too! I've always wanted her to record another album in the "Emotions" vein. That album was brilliant! But, I don't think we will ever again get that out of her.

Makes sense to bring Jermaine Dupri back as a producer for those reasons, but not manager.

I've heard he had to pull a lot of strings. As a manager he got her a lot of her recent gigs to stay relevant. He got her those weight loss commercials(The one i sadly worked for the demonic creature on ), TV Spots, TV performances(Christmas stuff, GMA etc) he also got her radio interviews, talk show interviews, planing out her past tours. Heard he even had a role in her Precious acting gig.

When I heard about this, I thought perhaps she cut him to save face because her last album flopped. I wonder how many albums her hubby sold this summer with the ill-titled album, "White People Party Music". Seems like both of them could have used better management but I agree that JD was the reason she stayed relevant for as long as she did.

She needs to fire some carbs if she wants to keep fucking around with mainstream success.
