I agree. It is the only thing keeping the org alive right now.

Now for some real talk. I was one of the biggest Janet marks of my generation. But when it comes to her music career, her best days were between the Janet Jackson era of 1982 AND The Velvet Rope era of 1997. Everything else after that is an afterthought for the worst.

Janet shits on every female pop star but Madonna to whom she is damn near equal. Her influence spans Chris Brown to JT to Beyonce to even Mariah to Paula Abdul to JLo to Britney to basically anyone in the 50 million albums sold club. I don't know why some dumb org troll whores have always had a twist in their tampon about Janet. A woman can be funky and fresh and also rely on some help from some of Prince's former protege's bandmates and so the fuck what? She has to equal or surpass or even be compared to her brother? I'll never get over Janet...the best of the best of the best and the last of showbiz true royalty and probably the most evasive, introverted and intriguing celebrity of all time (to me).
Far as the music goes

My fave Janet song is Got Til It's Gone. If you don't feel a hump or a something in your something when that shit plays, you don't have a pulse. I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

Black Cat deserves to get major props. It's a rock song! Even Motley Crue's Tommy Lee namechecks it as his all-time favorite Janet song.

What about Janet's tribute to Michael at the VMA's a few years ago? Don't you all think that was a good performance? Trolls be gone!

With all due respect to Adam Levine, he isn't the first male Janet. THAT honor belong to Janet's former brother-in-law, Chico DeBarge!

These days, I do not like to even talk about the MTV VMAs for being the neo-Illuminati Block Party that it has been for the last 5+ years. With that said, Janet's tribute to Michael was still a good moment. I can never say the same thing about everything else that happen during that show.

I must be one of about six people in the world who really like her first two pre-Control albums, while not being that bothered with the rest. I love me some "Don't Stand Another Chance".

...or "Nothing." Before JJ&TL, Janet's music was a flop and after them her music was a flop. [Edited 7/29/14 3:46am] "Janet Jackson is like an 80s sitcom that's been off the air for over 25 years; you see a rerun and realize it wasn't that great..."

So wrong for the bad 12 year old voice with those comments....I just don't hear it. I've always loved her voice cause she adapts it for whatever she sings and is easy on the ears.

Janet... I have never liked her... Prince 4Ever.

"Black Cat" was yet another example of Janet copycatting Michael. It was a very cheesy and transparent attempt at a "Dirty Diana". Lyrically it's atrocious... "Better watch your step or you're gonna die..." C'mon. I was in middle school when that nonsense was out and one of my classmates at the time who was a huge rock music fan called the song "dorky." Yes it was very mj and prince like wasn't it? I love the mtv performance of the song, so on point with the moves....also, I know the lyrics are simple, but the hook is good and I think it was intended for a young audience anyways. Rock music fans for the most part were indifferent to janet, that's just how it is when groups form in middle school/high school....even though she has charted on the rock charts and is the only artist to have done a record number, so hopefully no one spams this post with a 100 million janet facts

I honestly think Beyonce made Janet's career redundant. . Good luck sticking to the same old thing when there's a younger model, out dancing and out singing you, with better (new) songs. . This is why Madonna found God, family, and politics. If you're not going to evolve the message, it's gonna get old. And Janet, who I love, got stuck on "sex". . She could have showed some real humanity after Michael's death, lord knows there was a market for it, but instead she danced at the VMA (just like before!), slapped Paris and stole her phone, kidnapped her mom, and ran away to Dubai. . Maybe it's all a midlife crises?

- Wooooah! Even Paris debunked that lie back around the time of the drama.

Beyonce makes Beyonce redundant. The most overrated, unoriginal hack on the planet at the moment. As far as the "better" songs go, I don't think Beyonce's so-called music is better, she just has a ton of marketing and too much airplay. You can't get away from this chick's face, not because she's so 'good' it's because she pays for her awards, airplay, etc. Such a tool. As far as Madonna goes, she is STILL using sex to sell. She just did a photo shoot with Katy Scary Perry recently and was in full boudiour (sp?) mode! From what I can tell, Madonna still wears revealing clothes at her concerts and is dating a guy in his 20s. I don't think she kidnapped Katherine. There was some kind of rift between the siblings after Michael died and apparently it was Jermaine's crew versus Janet's crew. I could be wrong on that. Okay, she ran away to Dubai? Um, isn't that where her then-boyfriend now-husband is from? Trolls be gone!

Well, to be clear, please be sexy, I LOVE sexy, but if there's no other message other than "I'm really kinky", I'm gonna get bored. . Janet's classic singles would eat Beyonce's for breakfast, I agree, but Beyonce has been delivering great songs for 10 years now. Much more fun to listen to than, say, "Dicipline". If you want to believe she pays for it (...?) that's cool, but you can't say Janet has been bringing it. She's been off her game for a while. Maybe she should pay for it too? . The grandma disappeared, the phone got (almost) snatched, but there was no slap. I misremembered. . And, yes, disappearing to Dubai with your billionaire husband is odd.

If it weren't for her pimp/husband, Beyonce would have been irrelevant way sooner than now. I think she's already past her heyday but is being so heavily marketed and promoted that the average listener think she's got some kind of stellar output still. All of her stuff is redundant. Besides, you were dead wrong for comparing Beyonce to Janet's Discipline album, what does one have to do with the other? Beywance has a team that pays off the media to keep her relevant. At least Janet changed her style and sound up a bit. Beyonce is gonna be in the same blonde weave and leotard for the next 50 years singing about "girl power" BS. Trolls be gone!

Janet hasn't changed her style. She's been cooing about how "moist" she is for over 20 yrs. Aside from losing the actual talent of JJ&TL who knew how to overproduce tracks to distract from her vocal limitations, a big part of her problem is that she fails at reinvention, is redundant and has become predictable/stale. "Janet Jackson is like an 80s sitcom that's been off the air for over 25 years; you see a rerun and realize it wasn't that great..."
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I guess the "pimp/husband" idea could be why Janet's in Dubai? Unsure. . I only mention Discipline because it was her last album, and nobody cared. . And if "media payments" made music like "B Day", "Beyonce", and Countdown...I think Janet should get a payment plan. Maybe her (pimp) husband could foot the bill?
