Can't wait till Montel Jordan's "Unsung"! who I went to school with & will be watching very closely for any inaccuracies..... will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P.

I love "Unsung'....I learn something from each artists stories. The DeBarge episode is by far the most heartbreaking. Every minute of last night is on my face today....

Here you have it. Most of the Unsung episodes tell the lives and career of artists who may not otherwise get covered on other networks. So it really doesn't matter if the artist don't fit the so called description of Unsung. Instead of holding the title of the series against the network just simply enjoy the biography of the artist whom you are interested in. If it's an artist I'm not interested in I simply don't tune in. Don't laugh at my funk

The Emotions... I'd like to see. Since the show is nothing but a gossip document drama, which one of the Emotions had a love child with Philip Baily? funkpill remind what channel number TV-1 is.

Can they PLEASE do one on New Birth, Johnny "Guitar" Watson, Switch, Cameo and Ready For The World?????

Over the years, it was shrouded in secrecy that Philip Bailey of Earth, Wind & Fire and Jeanette Hutchinson of the Emotions had a child together. You can say the same for Dennis Edwards (former lead singer of the Temptations) and Ruth Pointer of the Pointer Sisters. They have a daughter together
[Edited 8/6/14 21:09pm] [Edited 8/6/14 21:19pm] Nick Ashford was someone I greatly admired, had the honor of knowing, and was the real-life inspiration for Cowboy Curtis' hair. RIP Nick. - Pee Wee Herman

From the UK, it's hard to find episodes, but despite the cheesiness of the documentaries, it's good that somebody puts a little spotlight on these artists...
anyway, not a big fan of hi-five, but Tony's solo album should of been a hit. At that time, it had some top producers and songwriters but the album seemed to bomb, which was a shame. Any info on that?
Be interesting to see Troop, who's 3rd album "deepa", seemed to of been a wrong place/ wrong time deal, but had some tunes regardless.....I know they went to Hammer's label. Not a good idea as that shit closed down pretty quick around 1994 time.....

of all these, I think I'd be most interested in the Emotions.. icluding their involvement with & influence by EW&F/Maurice White.
melissa RIPOFF - I still hate the fact that she got over bitin' 1 of Prince's best slow jams, "Do me baby". did she ever have another hit after that??
rather than another Rick James "documentary".. somebody should just go ahead & do a full-length movie (like they just did with James Brown).. of course, Terrence Howard would have to play "Slick Rick".. get your popcorn ready.. I'll see you tonight..

I'm surprised no one here commented on the Hi-Five episode. Actually thought it was pretty sad. It always seems like these boy groups are destined to fail. They have success as teenagers but there's always an issue about money so one leaves the group but is easily replaced. Another issue the record label hypes the lead singer so he puts out a solo record. Another issue a personal tragedies one member is in a car accident and is paralyzed of course he's replaced, lead singer has substance abuse problems subsequently dies and another member is accused of killing his wife.(Never mentioned on the show) These shows for me provide a cautionary tale about the business any person looking to be part of it better be prepared.

She had a couple of minor hits...."Do You Still Love Me" was her best she also had a hit duet with Kashif in 1988....a remake of Mother's Finests' "Love Changes".

It was mentioned but if you blinked an eye you missed it. They slipped it in between after a commercial but quickly went to another break after they announced it. Don't laugh at my funk

The Killing happened in early July if I'm not mistaken. The show had already been complete as Russell was a main part of the episode. PRINCE: Always and Forever

What the hell happened to her episode? It was the only one I was looking forward to!!! By the way, she had several songs that were more than minor hits. She had 5 Top Ten Billboard R&B songs. Just nothing on the Pop side, which is why she would be a perfect candidate for an Unsung episode. I think it's really a shame that Capitol Records chose not to cross her over. They could have reigned her voice in and gave her some watered-down Pop songs to compete with Whitney. She had (has) an amazing voice. She did an album a few years ago called "I Remember" that was incredible! She sounded just as good on that album as she did on her 1986 debut, which was surprising since that rarely happens.
