60s British Invasion VS 80s British Invasion Between the 2 British Invasions, which one did you enjoy more and why? For me personally, while the original British Invasion was revolutionary and a muchbigger deal than its s counterpart, the 80s version looking back (and I'm aure at the time) was a huge deal as well. Out of the blue, you had music from across the Atlantic on American radio and dominating the pop charts en masse. While many of the artists and groups involved are one hit wonders with songs that are more remembered than them, the songs are top notch and while most may sound dated still hold up today and are as fun to listen to as I'm sure that they were back then. Besides the one hit wonders, aome legtimate stars came out of the woodwork when they got their big break on the US charts (i.e. Phil Collins/ Genesis, Duran Duran, George Michael/Wham!, The Police/ Sting, Billy Idol, Culture Club/ Boy George, Human League, and many others) adding variety and color to a music scene tgat was already lush with color, variety, and creativity from interesting artists born on American soil. As a matter of fact, I'd say that those UK acts that scored big on the charts were probably the biggest influence on the over the top craziness and intrigue that the 80s are fondly remembered for after Thriller. While I love the 60s, tbe 80s I enjoyed more overall and IMO was an expansion upon the 60s music scene in a way. You combine the British acts of the Invasion with the star power of Prince, MJ, Madonna, Springsteen, Janet, Lionel, Cyndi Lauper, Huey Lewis, and countless others from the decade and you got a damn awesome time to listen to music; due in part by the Second British Invasion.
