He started out on Motown

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

^Hey, I didn't know that!
And as for Dr Dre, one album per decade? Yes, he belongs in this list.

Can I complain about New Edition in here?

7 albums, 31 years. I'm mad because the last group album came out on BAD BOY in 2004! And 1996's Home Again was the album before that. So, they have definitely got into the "one album per decade" category.

Some of these you have to look at how lone the group or artist were active. NE first run was between 1983 and 1989. They released 6 albums during that period. Than 96-97 run one album. Got together in 04 for a release.

Not releasing albums does not mean a performer is inactive. Look at all the oldies groups that tour and hasn't had a release in decades like Paul Revere & The Raiders. NE has been performing for years together or apart (BBD, Heads Of State).

I still want an answer for the last ten years.

While i appreciate your love of george - and i have no quarrels with that - i just would say for myself - i get bored with someone like that .

Great example for me is Paul Simon . I love the guy and everything he has done since Simon and Garfunkel on ... but (in general) he puts out an album pretty much every 3 - 7 years ... i get bored with that ... He is a true artsist and I respect that ... but I think if he is working - and busy all year long - I would think he could put an album out ... (again the 3 years between albums may be optimal for me because i like other artists ... )

thats why i respect Prince ... now this is the longest in between albums so we shall see if the new one is as good as touted ...

Colonel Angus may be smelly. colonel angus may be a little rough . but deep down ... Colonel angus is very sweet.

Rodriguez, the subject of the doc Searching For Sugarman, made two albums in 1971-72 and still tours today. Now granted there was about a 30 year period where he had no career to speak of!

Maxwell- Two great, all time classic albums, one mediocre album, one MTV Unplugged album and then one part of a trilogy without any follow up albums (Black Summer Night).

Urban Hang Suite and Embrya are among my all time favorite albums. Absolutely flawless, timeless classics.

I'm not sure "still" tours is quite the term there.
