i know i sound like an old fart - but i hate todays music ... and dont get why some of it is "popular" even though sometimes .... or alot of the time it is a re-make of a far superior original ...

first thing that comes to mind is that Pitbull remake of Aha's song ... lol .

My daughter who is 14 plays alot of new music and i cant STAND IT ... ugh ... why do almost every song have to have rap in it ... and have a simple hook that is just pre-schoolish ...

thank goodness for like John Legend and Adelle .... thats all i got to say ... wink wink

Colonel Angus may be smelly. colonel angus may be a little rough . but deep down ... Colonel angus is very sweet.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Rap has been big since the late 80s but yes, it has become an international sensation over the past decade and only seems to be getting bigger.

With that said, being a fan of the genre, it's being overused and exploited by nearly everybody in the music industry.

It seems some rappers have been accepted in the acting field in a way that pop stars in the past haven't (eg. Elvis Presley, Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Prince, Bob Dylan, Pat Boone, Sting, Madonna, etc).

its getting worse each year. look, i'm not the "todays hip hop sucks" dude, its just that all the artists that are emerging everyday present nothing groundbreaking in their material, compare that to the evolution hip hop saw in, say, 2 years in the 90s for example (evolution of g funk, the sampling...etc), every act today is just imitating the previous one.... Theres really a few bunch of hip hop artists who deserve the attention.

Underground hip-hop has dozens and dozens of great artists. But that's a given... top 40 hip-hop is hit or miss.

Kendrick got top 40 last year and he had a great album! with great singles that got airplay. I even like some of Drake's stuff (Loved Hold On, We're Goin Home till it was overplayed as hell lol )

So far top 40 rap this year has been horrible. ''These hoes ain't loyal'' and ''i sell out arenas you can suck my penis'' are the 2 biggest statements so far in top 40 rap.

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

All music is shit music and no music is real- gunsnhalen
