Madonna Photographer Claims To Be 'Listening To The New Album'By Jason Lipshutz, N.Y. | April 21, 2014 4:08 PM EDT
Mert Alas, one half of the fashion photography pair Mert + Marcus and a frequent Madonna collaborator, caused quite the online kerfuffle by posting a photo of Madge on Instagram on Monday (Apr. 21) with a caption in which he claimed to be "listening to the new album."
"In my room listening to the NEW ALBUM!!!!!" Alas posted. "Im DYING!!!!!! LET ME LOVE YOU FROM INSIDE OUT… @madonna." Could the follow-up to 2012's "MDNA" be upon us? A rep for Madonna has declined a request for comment, but sources tell Billboard that the pop superstar's next full-length is not yet completed, and that she is still writing and recording new music for the set, presumably in Los Angeles.
Last month, Madonna told her Instagram followers that she was "on my way to the studio to work with Avicii," and hit the studio earlier this month to work withNatalia Kills and Martin Kierszenbaum. Toby Gad, S1 and MoZella are also attached to the new project. "MDNA" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart upon its March 2012 release. Mert + Marcus directed the music video for the album's second single, "Girl Gone Wild," and shot the MDNA tour book for Madge.

MoZella, Toby Gad & Symbolyc One---bringing R&B sounds to Madonna's new album? *A former Maverick artist, MoZella is a soul/pop singer and multi-instrumentalist in her own right. She has recently also co-written 3 songs for Miley Cyrus, including "Wrecking Ball", and Fergie's "A Little Party Never Killed Nobody".
*Toby Gad is a songwriter and producer, who has done songs such as Fergie's "Big Girls Don't Cry", Beyoncé's "If I Were a Boy", John Legends "All of Me" and JLS' "Love You More".
*Symbolyc One is a hip hop producer, a part of group Strange Fruit Project and a member of Erykah Badu's band. His production credits include Kanye West's "Power", 50 Cent's "My Life" and Beyonce's "Best Thing I Never Had".

lol, i can't help but think that Madonna and Lourdes are going to turn into Edina and Saffy from Absolutely Fabulous, with Madonna still trying to be a teenager at 55 and Lourdes being the grown up, serious one in the house

I like the idea of a fall release. It'll give her plenty of time to promote it,before she begins the tour rehearsals in early 2015.Last time around, she had to rush to tour rehearsals and had very little time to promote MDNA.

Are you going to see her for the next tour? "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

most likely I never miss a Madonna show in my area

I went to see the MDNA tour but I have to adopt a wait-and-see attitude for next time... I went to see Prince recently(well worth it!) and my concert stash took a big hit in the pocketbook. Me neither. It's expensive but worth it. I have enjoyed every one of her shows. I went to a show last week that only cost $35 and it was the worst show of my life. I want a refund! But with Madonna it's worth it. Of course my budget is limited, but I spend on artists like Madonna that always put on a great show. She has a great track record for me. I'd rather spend more and really get something amazing then spend less and be subjected to something awful.

Well the Diplo speculation turned out to be true:

So it's another producer for her that has worked with Britney before, the 4th in a row, it's obvious her A&R people are paying attention at this. But now it also seems like another affair where she has a host of producers, we're at about the same number as the MDNA collaborators... [Edited 5/11/14 6:24am]

She posted a picture of herself with Diplo, Toby Gad,Ariel Rechtshaid and Mozella. Ariel is known for his work on Skye Ferreira's last album which was amazing. There are a lot of producers but most of them seem like they are working together in teams on the same songs. There really seem to be only two groups the Avicii group and the Diplo/Mozella group.
Ariel has not worked with Britney that I know of so there goes your theory. What's so weird about her working with people who worked with Britney. Madonna and Britney are in the same genre of music electro pop/dance so I don't find it so odd.

I hope that is Madonna's new single! I like the retro disco sound of that groove.

Based on the text it's most likely her, it's just too bad she's been doing the retro 70s/80s thing for a while now, we've already had She's Not Me & Dance 2Night, this just a more uptempo/club version of that.

It also reminded me of this one:
It was notable of featuring a Debbie Harry homage!

Yes, the snippet doesn't do that much for me either. It has the same retro 70's disco thing she has done before a lot. But the excitement around it shows how hungry people are for new music even though everyone claims they don't care about her and it's over. I've heard some rumors that it could be Janet Jackson. You could see her as a shape shifting dance legend. But dance as more in doing choreography than actual dance music. And I believe the clip was posted on her birthday. Does Janet have new music coming soon. But apparently all is to be revealed on Sunday's Billboard Music Awards. It does seem too soon for a new Madonna single as she just recently finished the album a couple of days ago.

I disagree. She needs to try a different approach this time.Release a fun "buzz single" for the summer. Then in the fall, when the new CD is about to released, she should release the official first single.

I really doubt it's anyone else though, Janet had several dance tunes indeed but she's more known for her R&B numbers and there weren't any rumors of her working on new music (except one song or something?) and I'd find it weird if Billboard used "vogue" while hyping Janet up.
It is possible she performs the track tomorrow at Billboard Awards and then it immediately gets on iTunes or something. Or it appears on iTunes sometime later without any appearances. And I'm 100% sure it'll be treated like a "buzz" single just like Mariah's several efforts in the past year or so because it won't do much business on the charts no matter what.

Thanks for keeping us up to date so we can avoid this.

She posted a picture on instagram with a new straighter shorter hairstyle. So maybe she is doing something at the Billboard Music Awards. I don't see why a first single from Madonna with a big tv performance that people like and sounds like her which the clip seems to whether you like it or not (not like GMAYL) wouldn't do well on the charts. Second and third singles from an album no, but first single yes. All of her first singles have done well expect GMAYL. 4 minutes was a huge global hit. She's not Mariah or Janet.

Call me crazy but in the newly leaked clip on billboard.com you can make out vocoded vocals if you turn up the volume and listen very carefully! After the 15 second mark a vocoded voice starts repeating the word "apologetic" over and over to the beat of the music! Might be a figment of my imagination but madonna has been using that hashtag "unapologetic bitch" A LOT the past couple of days on Instagram!
