Ya know, Telma Hopkins from this group was later an actress on sitcoms like Family Matters, Are We There Yet?, and Bosom Buddies. They still perform occasionally:

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Oh yeah, I know her! Ha ha, I thought I saw 2 white girls singing. Guess I was just looking at who this guy Tony Orlando was. But I had to look again when you said the Telma Hopkins from Family Matters. Learn something new...

^^It's a female name. I don't know if it's common today though.

My grandmother loved the Tony Orlando and Dawn show. lol Everyone all over the country were tying yellow ribbons around trees to show support for the Vietnam troops because of their song. I saw them all over people's yards as a kid...

I've never heard of it. Must be old school name.

I remember a cashier at our local supermarket who was named 'Candida'. It didn't occur to me at the time because I was very little, but that girl must have hated her parents. razz [/hyperbole]

If it was me, I would've changed my name when I became of age. Or just go by 'Candy'.
