I like it too. Note the cheeky replacement in the countdown where it says SEX instead of SIX.

.

There was an awful cover about 10 years later by some singer no one would ever hear from again... and George actually lent his vocals to a remix of that. The instrumental of it actually isn't too bad, it's kind of a mellower mix, but the lady just couldn't cut it with vocals.

.

Back to the original version, what I love about this song, as well as Wham!'s Freedom (and other songs that were out around the time like Culture Club's 'Church of the Poison Mind' and ABC's 'When Smokey Sings') is how it pays tribute to the Motown sound.

I'm so used to hearing the long version that I forgot about the 45 version. lol The version on The Edge Of Heaven album is a slight edit of the 12" mix. I used to play Do It Right (which is what the instrumental was called) a lot too.

^That's what I was talking about, Micky.

.

Here's a cool live version I've found, which was kind of a Wham! reunion of sorts, 5 years after their split, as it featured a special guest appearance by Andrew Ridgley:

^^I remember that. I have an old Rolling Stone issue with a writeup about it. I think the concert was Rock In Rio, not sure though.

^^A few years ago, there were rumors that George & Andrew were going to do a concert or tour. That seemed unlikely to me, because Andrew isn't really interested in show business, but his wife Keren still performs with her group Bananarama. Andrew is also a millionaire, so he wouldn't need to do a tour for the money.

I don't think Keren and Andrew are married and I heard they broke up.

Movie based on English band 'Wham!' set to hit big screen

The story of the two member band Wham!, formed by George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley which was one of the most successful English bands of the 1980's, will now be brought to the big screen.

According to a source, the film, which is already in production under a British film company, will follow the duo's climb to fame and will also portray their amicable split in 1986, Daily Express reported.

.

Casting is being done at the moment to fill the role of Michael, added the insider.

With hits like 'Freedom', 'Last Christmas' and 'I'm Your Man', the band sold more than 25 million records worldwide between 1982 and 1986, and became the first Western pop group to perform in in 1985.
