In advance of an upcoming tour, Courtney Love is releasing an double A-side on May 4, and the first song from it should serve as proof that Love’s still got it.

“You Know My Name” is a thrilling punk workout that has Love screaming and spewing venom like the alt-rock banshee she once was.

Just when the track seems to reach its peak, it ignites with a forceful hook: “All this world is burning up / It’s time that you retire.” Good thing she hasn’t.

I like it. I dont care what people say or think about her as a person, she's completely nuts and should probably refrain more from interviews and social media, but as a musician/singer she's been one of the best females in the game since the 90's.

Having once been described as a train wreck personality, this song is a punkish affirmation of sorts. I'd love to hear it done live.

Love it! I really like the fast punk sound to it. On her last album, there were too many songs that were slower and almost like power ballads. Courtney is at her best when she is screaming. She really doesn't have the voice to carry off more conventional singing in a slower ballad like style. I think you have to know what type of songs suit your voice.

Yeah we all know Courtney is gonna lapse sooner or later. I doubt it's crack though because she's so laid back in this clip. Crack/Cocaine makes her manic. But I don't know what happened with her because the new songs are a welcome return to form. I hate to blame Linda Perry (no I don't) but I doubt she was good for Courtney and from the looks of it Courtney knows it. You can't chase a hit record, at least not Courtney.

I read it in a discussion that there was an albums worth of material ready to go but it seems that the big money lure of a Hole reunion has taken over, shame really as I think she would do better as a solo artist than in an average grunge/punk band. I guess money talks

She's tried as a solo artist and those records have not been successful or particularly critically acclaimed. Courtney is talented but she doesn't write songs by herself. So she really needs a good band behind her. I love Courtney but she often says things that aren't true. So I don't know if there really was a whole solo album. Most of her best known songs that people come to see her sing live are Hole songs, which the guitarist Eric Erlandson had a big role in writing. Hole was a great band, far from an average grunge/punk band. Her solo records of which I also include Nobody's Daughter which was called a Hole record but had none of the original members, have a few highlights but are no where as good as Live Through This and Celebrity Skin. From what I understand Hole is not just getting back together to play the older songs for money but also will be making a new album together. I look forward to what they can do as a band with Eric, which I think will be much better than her solo music.
